Yeah. It would actually be pretty cool if web sites and apps were dumbed down for a few things: denying cookies, deleting accounts, contacting support, unsubscribing from spam. With dark patterns those things actually become more complicate

I don't think anyone is directly blaming the users here. It is just a fact of life that a sizeable portion of users "accept" dark patterns, and PMs consider that as a sign of success. However I strongly doubt users are doing

Wow, I went trough exactly the same thing. Even the examples were eerily similar: a couple dirty dishes on the sink would turn into an argument. A minor positive comment was an insult that would totally ruin her day. I'm surprised by h

Git doesn't require an internet connection. With git you can keep doing backups the same way and store the git repository in flash drives, Dropbox, Amazon Glacier, or anywhere you want. The main difference here is that you don't n

My plan is keep learning too. I used the holiday days to work on my 3D renderer and brushing up on 3D tech. I just figured out an O(N) way of applying the shadow-map in post-processing. Now I am implementing Screen Space Reflections, and th

Well, OP didn't really complain about government policy or repression, but rather about hostility. Even if there are no repressive aspects (but I agree with other replies that they do exist!), the behaviour would still be problematic i

That might be pedantic, sure, but the point is that extending is not mirroring. For the use cases like the one described in the article, that distinction matters. I'm not questioning the usefulness of the orange dot, but rather the p

What separate laptop? macOS supports multiple accounts, no need for separate laptop. And people don't want to buy a completely unnecessary $200 dongle (it's actually cheaper) for something that worked 100% perfectly before. Is tha

Sure, in theory you are correct. We should seek the more reliable solution. In practice, this is not really a problem for anyone using macOS for small time visuals/performance/presentations, as long as you keep your computer well

Not a problem in practice. On macOS, OS crashes show up on the first monitor, and so do other crash alerts. Also, again, if this is not an amateur thing, the only programs that will be running will be those directly related to the presentat
