Can anybody explain exactly what is meant by "distributed" here?

Great work! Some thoughts from a purely personal perspective, take them as you will: - I often refer non-programmers to python.org when they ask what that "Python" thing I do all day is. If this is a significant portion of your traffic, I

I understand your frustration but I'm not sure it's relevant here. Formspring's issue certainly wasn't lack of signups; they claimed over 30 million.

I don't believe that's how the math plays out in most socialist countries, where uni often costs a few grand a year iirc. The particulars of the current American system are a different story if we look at certain kinds of private colleges.

There is no reason the 30th century will repeat the same patterns as the 20th. It's certainly true that raw employment numbers in the US haven't dipped significantly since the dawn of industrialization, and they've gotten better around the

While Cloud SQL and Appengine both do look expensive, I have to say the new integration is quite nice to work with. I had struggled in the past with djangoappengine, which let Django run on the weirdness of the Appengine Datastore, but now

Was your data in the Appengine Datastore? I believe elicox was asking about using Google Cloud SQL, which I believe makes data export relatively easy (Cloud SQL is basically managed MySQL). New Django + Cloud SQL also runs basically "pure"

It's lighthearted fun. Some guy at Github said, what the hell. And within a day of a new language being announced[1], it's already "supported" by github. Is this any kind of a big deal? no. But I know I cracked a smile. [1] http://news.yco

Social engineering != dishonesty, in my opinion. Loopholes can be found and exploited in perfectly honest ways.

A tough and probably incredibly worthwhile and rewarding few months! Stick with it, there isn't anything that some creative googling and enough console.log()'s can't get you through. By the way, if you're new to development, you might chec

I have to say, I don't love that level of dishonesty. Last time I couldn't afford a conference I wanted to attend, I emailed the organizers and asked if they needed any volunteers. I got all the benefits Jerry did, from business connections

First, don't stress. This is normal. I've had a number of projects, including my current one, that has had early people come and go. A startup is a monumental commitment and it's a good thing your partner realized their heart wasn't in it b

I think Axelrod actually claimed loudly that tit-for-tat wasn't optimal , and offered a few other strategies that would have done better (including tit-for-two-tats, interestingly enough). He was also pretty careful to add that a lot depen

Surprised nobody here has mentioned Google Web Toolkit yet. It's the tool Google uses to build interfaces like Gmail and (I believe) Docs. Freely available: https://developers.google.com/web-toolkit/ That said, it's not something I would

Maybe just pass the JSON object in as a string to the label? I personally don't think I'd mind reading "{'paymentAmount': 50, 'productColor': 'red'}". I haven't used Google Analytics for event tracking yet, though, so not sure what the UI a

As far as I'm aware, Python is vastly more popular for scripts than Lua. At first, I assumed you were just Lua guys, but apparently you're a Python fan as well, at least to some degree. I imagine it must have to do with easy of sandboxing o

What I'd really like to see would be trails going off into the future -- rather than just a +/-% for the +3yr mark, why not just show the whole story for each company (perhaps only when you hover over it to avoid clutter). This would make

This seems interesting, I left my email. Gotta say, though, really turned off by the ninja stuff (and 300 picture). No, I don't wage covert warfare in feudal Japan. I do, however, enjoy shipping great code as fast as possible.

Actually using this as my desktop. Works beautifully; serene, subtly invigorating. Nice work: the hand-painted lettering and well-chosen vista add power to a message one can never really hear too often.

Do we need representatives at all? I mean, we have the Internet now. We used to need experts/professionals for knowledge, news aggregation, and problem help/advice. Now, we have Wikipedia, Reddit, and Stack Exchange. Why not gov too?
