Yes, but if you are not overworked then you can use that time to take care of the children. Also, for some reason people don't use help of grandparents as often anymore. Like they say: you're not your job, or: you're not your

I find the fact Steve Coast (the founder of OpenStreetMap) has worked for what3words pretty grotesque. https://www.spatialsource.com.au/latest-news/founder-of-open... It's a shame that he didn't have enough c

Are you by any chance from Poland? It's so frustrating that many people here work themselves to death, using up rest of their time for the time-sinks called children. After that they have no time left for participating in the civil soc

I wouldn't be so keen. The local OSM mapper communities often find these corporations hard to work with. Lots of half-assed work, non-transparency in communication, doing armchair mapping (without local knowledge). On the German OSM su

This puts a twist on "corporations are people" - that they can die or be killed ;)

I wonder how much of the drop is attributable to memory industry. As some headline said: boom and bust is business as usual for memory. Though I don't feel bad for them, as they have been involved in one price fixing scandal after anot

Maybe the author lives in a world where there's no reason to be offended by every little thing and people can take a joke? ;) Granted, text can't convey irony, I know.

My thoughts too. Whenever I see someone abuse ellipses I know reading the text is not worth my time - either the person is terrible at turning thoughts into type, or out of their mind, or both.

The "synergy" stuff is so true! I talked with a colleague who interned at Intel doing HDL development for networking. Guess what - when Intel acquired Altera they asked each division to evaluate using FPGAs in their products.

This guy has a YT channel DiodeGoneWild. If you're into EE or dodgy stuff from eBay, do check him out. Recently he tore down a modern ATX power supply and did a very in-depth explanation.

Apparently Intel's cable modem SoCs (Puma 6) are garbage as well, demonstrating ridiculous jitter level. https://www.badmodems.com/ I'm also an unfortunate owner of an Arris box. If only the person who showed me t

The simplified polygons are a result of using vector tiles, more specifically from OpenMapTiles project, as noted in copyright notice. They need to be simplified in order to achieve reasonable size. Although we can argue how much is too muc

I think "basically" may be an understatement. With OSM you get "only" (or "as much as") data. The rest of the stack is up to you - whether you use some ready-made open source solution or roll your own.

Apple does use OSM in some countries like Ukraine IIRC. They are free to do so. https://wiki.osmfoundation.org/wiki/Licence/Community_Guidel... Although their attribution is leaning on the minimalist side.

I participated in similar communities and would kindly disagree with you. The ones who raise this point 99% of the time _are_ up to no good. It's the Occam's razor, again: there's no censorship conspiracy and if anything of s
