You're right when it comes to publishers, but this article most resonated to me about why I stopped sharing on facebook, which does not involve money. I found that getting few or zero likes on a post was a negative signal and it really

I was heartened by how poorly "add hn to cart" would actually do on this site. Most of those articles are instantly killed by various filters. Maybe I should go back and have another read through the comments, but that was my take

I think that you're probably looking for a finite state machine. There are a number of libraries for this, so have a look around and pick one that looks good. I haven't used it myself but would love to hear about other people'

Is there a difference between dpi support for third party apps versus Microsoft apps? I wonder if apple simply has more control over the graphics stack than Microsoft does, or maybe has more leverage over its developers to add high dpi supp

So... a tech would just show up at your office, ready to fix the machine? On the one hand, that is some fantastic service when you're running mission critical software. On the other hand, that must cost a whole lot of money and is quit

Someone else in this thread pointed out that the headlines would be really bad for Uber if they said something like "Uber surges 500% while breaking airport taxi strike". It seems like they were trying to cover themselves, while n

Things were moving so fast at the time, I guess I had my doubts that Uber was even aware of the strike, but I suppose that may be naive and that the taxi association probably contacted Uber about this. I'm definitely coming around to t

I'm not denying that, and I feel weird defending Uber at all, but then you'd also need to account for why they offered to compensate their drivers affected by this travel ban, and why would they lower their surge pricing. I'm

I think there's a pro-Uber case to be made here. Uber suspended surge pricing at a time when many people were trying to get to the protest at the airport, and while the airtrain was shut down which is what connects the subway system to

Looked into it some more. Mexican adults who are turned away at the border are not counted. Adults and children from other countries are put through removal proceedings, and that counts. Sometimes those proceedings take a few days to weeks,

Good points all around. I think that there are also non-technical people who remember when devices would last a very very long time. That is something tangible that consumers have lost to some extent.
