I watched the google stadia announcement video and I was amazed by what they accomplished, but your comment cuts through all of that and points to a future where google sets the artistic priorities via financial incentive... the way they cu

If I may abuse this metaphor a little further, I'd like to point out that running Linux also pays dividends by teaching you, well, Linux. It is the platform that most code ends up running on, after all. You'll know it is worthwhil

As far as I know, there's no official way of using Devise over a REST API. It is designed with a server-side Rails app in mind. There's devise_token_auth and related client libraries, but I wish there was an official way for handl

This made me realize that it might be a fun idea to get a projector and point it at my ceiling, could use this to explore the stars with Stellarium.

I agree that the website is the thing that is broken. Their code looked like this: reportToTracker('userActionSubmit'); submitForm(); The first line threw an exception. They should have surrounded that line with a try

A few minutes ago, my ad blocker broke the login form of my cellphone provider. A non-technical user would probably not think to turn off the ad-blocker, and would assume that the website is broken. Not being able to log into your phone pro

Thanks, this is helpful and why I came to the comments. Another question I had was what happens to red? You helped me answer that -- unlike echo green, the output of echo red is still connected to the pipe. The right-hand side of that pipe

Thanks for the time and effort you've put into this thread, it has been very interesting reading your comments, which have a lot of content and a lot of experience behind them. I wanted to ask you about this because I've been read

If making global state accessible is all you need Redux for, then I don't see why that state shouldn't be: 1) persisted to a back-end and re-fetched on route 2) Persisted to localStorage If there some kind of state that doesn

Again, I'm glad you reminded me about this book. About to introduce it to some friends through our book club. I'll be re-reading it soon, so maybe I'll put on that movement while I read the end :)

Great points all around. One question though — how many apps actually need to share state across pages? Seems like mobile apps have this problem more than desktop apps, because their screens are small and so the UI must be split into pages.

It is wild speculation to assert that these events are connected, without any supporting evidence. Let's please keep this kind of thing to a minimum. This should not be considered good content for this forum.

I love this so much. It could be fun to write a Gnutella/eDonkey network over RTCTunnel. Maybe even have the user plug in their dropbox or google drive and start sharing like it's 2003 again.
