Sure, you can see it if you look for it, but the only purpose of this landing page is to collect emails and twitter followers, and it could do that much better if it had a big visible email input field right below the main paragraphs.

That's nice design. Seems like something well-suited for Kickstarter. I wish I had an apartment to put that in.

I'm not sure what you have in mind, but just in case that could be relevant: http://market.yandex.ru/ is an aggregator for all kinds of products in Russian web and retail stores. It's the most useful shopping tool in Russia – lets you fil

Pay-as-you-go can quickly become complex unless you have a very simple, one-dimensional utility service without any premium features. Otherwise your pricing will look like that of AWS (i.e. may be cheaper, but less predictable). Tiered pric

Strange that the "refresh" button does not provide any visual feedback if there are no new messages. Not good. Even refreshing inbox by clicking on "Inbox" on the left briefly shows a "loading" message.

I also used Acorn but found DrawIt to be much better suited for web stuff (icons, buttons, gradients, etc.), and it's way simpler than Photoshop.

Maybe we just need a submission to cost X karma points to the submitter. Then people would think harder before submitting.

They probably spent a lot of resources to develop this font and didn't even bother to move the "Our new typeface" headline a pixel or two to the left so that it looks like it's actually left-aligned with all the other text.

> if you smile, those people will take it as an insult The article is well-balanced except for this. In Russia, a smile is not frowned upon, as this may imply, it's just not on by default. Being a Russian, I just don't feel obliged to k

Mmm... Privacy is kind of hard to sell, most people weren't burned by this yet. I think the markets for tools for small businesses are not saturated yet, even in US (most of the rest of the world is at least several years behind). If I had

Amazon did well. It's easy to stay alive, in a bubble or not: just forget the buzzwordy bullshit and build a business with a viable business model from day one. Unless all you want is to raise funding and have fun for some time, that is :)

Lesson: Don't get into conflict of interest with a monopoly that you rely on. If you are strategically threatening or simply unprofitable for them, they will kill you off.

If this evolved into something like ninite for servers I would pay for that. I mean, install and configure apps that I select, secure the server, etc., also give me a file with all the passwords, configs, etc. that the script made so I can

I've looked at TC comments on a handful of recent articles and didn't find any profanity/trolling/etc. Maybe I just got lucky, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't like that before. That's definitely a plus.

If you use programming as a means to an end, dont't forget that you can hire/outsource/partner with those who have the skills you need. I mean, if you want to build a business rather than be an employee, you don't necessarily need the skill

I need more of analysis than fancy realtime stuff, so Google Analytics works really well for me. I analyze traffic results of my clients' (restaurants etc.) marketing campaigns.

Skype never made good client software for apple's devices, so it's not surprising. All versions have major UX flaws and iphone app is very buggy and slow/freezing for example.

Think of it as a wide 360 degree panorama picture stitched from images taken at different times of the day. This would yield a wide, non-distorted rectangular image. This one combined image was then rolled around itself in such a way that i

Some of these solutions place significant constraints on gameplay (e.g. bullet speeds vs object thickness). That's ok for a small game experiment that you have clearly defined in advance and are not going to develop much further, but most g
