With rising income inequality the difference between the average Joe and the 1% Joe is growing larger and larger. This seems increasingly unfair to more and more people. Eventually all those disillusioned poor people will act on this by bri

For Scala.js there are a lot of resources, e.g. http://www.lihaoyi.com/hands-on-scala-js/ is a good start.

$3000 CAD per year per condo/house is very small consolation given all the negatives. For example, just one of the many problems – a foreigner buys residency ($100K paid to Quebec, not BC), buys a house here, then continues to run his

That's ridiculous, a city growing in size or density will never see decreased property prices. This will actually increase the prices because the city is now a more "desirable" place to be (for some). Foreign money is a real

Because you'll never build enough. Global demand surpasses potential local supply by a huge margin. Prices won't even begin to drop.

That tax is just a smokescreen. There are numerous loopholes and problems with it, so many that it's surely deliberately engineered for maximum buzz but minimum effect. BC and Vancouver have been playing hot potato with this issue for

TBH, You don't use scala.js to write hello world apps. I'm much more curious how Scala.js handles a 100Kloc app, but I haven't seen any data on that.

I feel that car license plates are a reasonable compromise. A car provides you with an ability to inflict a lot of damage AND with an ability to escape from the scene quickly. Think hit and runs, road rage, dangerous driving, drunk driving,

Indeed, I don't have a good understanding of the JVM ecosystem. However: Google is tentatively on the hook for $9B for... essentially implementing its own JVM... or something. Doesn't matter to me, end result is that the future of

Either of those technologies is good enough technically for my purposes. However, I have much more confidence in node's new governance (and therefore its bright future) than in Oracle. Oracle essentially has a monopoly on Java. And the

The reason I'm going with Scala.JS is to have UI code shared by web, mobile and desktop platforms. ScalaFX needs JVM for UI code, so it can only run on desktop and possibly Android.

Building cross-platform apps with the same codebase is gonna be ugly one way or another. This particular method is interesting to me personally because I'd rather depend on node.js than Oracle's JVM. It's worth mentioning tha

I like the storm of Scala.js comments on the article. It's definitely game-changing for the Scala ecosystem. You can run Scala on node.js now, and by extension you can package desktop apps written 100% in Scala.js using Electron. I

The problem seems to be that a slightly indirect variation of bribery (aka lobbying) has been legalized in the first place, not that such bribery is hard to detect. If there was any political will to solve this problem, it would have been s

This exists for a reason. If you do this in HTML: <li>Hello</li> <li>World</li> <li>!!!</li> You now have text nodes containing a space in between the <li> elements.
