The current dictatorship in Egypt deals with the Muslim Brotherhood in the same way pro-US capitalist dictatorships dealt with communist groups. The Muslim Brotherhood is still very popular in Egypt, and in the last legitimate election won

Well, that doesn't change the fact that Egypt is currently under a US-aligned dictatorship. I'm not saying it's under US-control, just that the current dictator stands to benefit by being in the good graces of the US...despit

Because Egypt is under a US-aligned dictatorship at the moment. Most Egyptians are upset at their government about this.

Yes, Israel is the one currently banning international journalists from entering Gaza. Hamas has no reason to.

Meta not being on the list is more suspect IMO. At least it seems to me that Meta is where the actual talent/potential is.

To be fair, open source models at this point exceed or are similar to OpenAI's best models. There's really no loss in releasing these weights. It might even have some upsides in terms of attracting talent.

That's not an issue. DeepSeek R1 is massive but people still managed to distill and quantize it. They'll just do the same for this one.

Isn't it blocked by GFW not OpenAI?

It would also allow OpenAI to operate in countries that have state subsidized electricity and low wages.

I'm obviously not a fan of dictatorships, I'm just trying to rationalize why someone might prefer China to the US. I think the problem is that the US presidency is too powerful, it might be better to turn the presidency into a cer

Stability. You said it yourself: > we’ll have another leader in a couple years Depending on how you look at it, it could be seen as a disadvantage. China's policies are generally long-term and stable.

"From a security standpoint, that’s welcome news." Encrypting firmware does not help with security. If anything, it's a red flag. Signature validation is a different story and I can somewhat get behind it.

Yes, the ID is unique per-app+user BUT the ID would then be useless for tracking you across apps. It is no different from the app itself creating a random ID and saving it.

While technically the library could continue supporting custom SSML, I ended up removing it because keeping the support was pointless. The API stopped allowing anything other than the basic tags used by Microsoft Edge itself (i.e., prosody

It's worth noting that there have been occasions where the library was blocked and it took a few weeks to workaround said block. For example, when a valid Sec-MS-Token became required, it took a while to implement it in the library: h

I think I know what's going on. Google's Gemini searches your Google Workspace (incl. Google Docs) for its RAG system. These questions are almost certainly verbatim copied from some Google Document Gemini already has access to. I
