the principles themselves are useful but here’s the thing: people take them literally and without any context a lot of the times effectively turning them into a weapon to show how X and Y don’t show “leadership”. Here is an example: “Insist

here is the problem: estimating is also work. breaking down the work is hard work. sometimes it takes more to break down and think things through than to do the work. the fundamental problem is that management does not want estimates. they

I don’t necessarily agree with you that if supply > demand and 1 programmer does the job of 2 this will lead to a higher salary. You can see this today in most places where you can walk on water, but you still need to be in your pay band

i’m sort of a Luddite so take this with a grain of salt. I don’t see this going anywhere. If it’s really good and we can actually have 1 developer instead of 2 now why would any developer want to do this? this would basically be a piece of

yeah, nothing beats K8s except you know... maybe serverless. or maybe cloud primitives that are already there and are handled by someone else. IMHO, unless you have a huge fleet of bare metal machines K8s is an overhead you don't need

you could, the problem with this approach is how do you manage these volumes and the infrastructure around it. How do you get the keys on that volume? Usually, this trust is established when the machine is built the first time and it gets

if you have a network level firewall blocking DHCP traffic, you will not be able to do DHCP. The way it works for physical hosts is that all machines in the same rack see the dhcp traffic and the TOR has a special ip helper configured where
