we definitely want to survive, even with 0 offsprings. That was not the point. The point was the natural selection does not optimize for the longest surviving humans.

you're working with the assumption that it's a commodity. It's more like a currency than a commodity. also, is the price of gold for example really tracking the cost of producing it?

you should consider what the price to mine is vs the reward. as long as the reward > price to mine, the miners will keep mining. once it drops, you will either have miners dropping off the networks or the difficulty decreasing until anot

it depends. in the next 10 years, no. next 100 years, probably no. but if you have thousands or millions of years ahead I think artificial intelligence is going to become a thing. also we'll drop the artificial and call it what it is

yes, the longevity "movement" actually talks about this. nobody want to live to be 130 if it sucks. but if you have the same quality of life like a 40yo all of a sudden people are waaay more open to living longer (I have also obs

yes. you need to reproduce and to ensure your offsprings reach sexual maturity. but humans are in no way special. we believe we have escaped our biology because of the cultural stratum we posses (ie exchanged memes for genes) but we are sti

there is a huge difference between enjoying food and being a slave to food. the best example I have in this bucket is sugar. If you depend on sugar you're basically a drug addict (i know, i know, but just because it's socially acc

it is not easier. you cannot engineer what you don't understand. for all the progress that has been made there is still a lot we don't know about how life works in general. not to mention the ethical can of worms this opens.

Improving longevity is what the people at https://www.lifespan.io/ have been trying to do for ages. The research is being done, there are tons of new promising things - with the catch that they are experimental / not t

this is the right answer. once you reach reproduction age and you are able to reproduce, from an evolutionary point of view you're done.

hahahah. terraform has bugs that were opened 8 years ago and were swept under the rug countless times. the fundamental problem is that terraform is not even a half baked tool (what version was it again? 0.12?) and people are betting the far

use CloudFormation (or Deployment Manager if on gcp). Terraform is a disaster and you’ll learn the hard way you cannot trust it and you’ll have to understand the underlying cloud no matter what you do.

i don’t disagree with your points. ux is more than ui. and it’s definitely harder nowadays to learn about the cloud than it was 5 years ago.

sure. the AWS console has been very hard to use since forever. Some may even go as far as saying that it improved. The UX is not the selling point of a cloud provider.

1. use RDS 2. if you want to run your own you’d better know how HA setups work and you can lose at least a machine at ANY point in time (not just when AWS warns you the hardware is failing)

went back and looked at it. a webserver written in asm for the lols is okay but my point was that you probably want a proven, battle ready web server (along the lines of nginx or apache) if running something in production. So, 50k rps on a
