I guess online is just bizarro world in that sense... when everyone is anonymous and there are no barriers, we get YouTube-like comments. Like it or not, even Hacker News has significant barriers to new users. Arguably that's why it's such

Yeah, it would be needlessly noisy in public form. However, it can be helpful for people to get feedback directly. Would a private reply that only the submitter can see be valuable? It would help the community give direct feedback to the su

This is really really awful for the future of the Internet. Generating random content is specifically the kind of garbage that we don't want on the web. It's the definition of 'free-ridership' -- lets create a bunch of valueless nonsense pr

What starts as a compelling profile of Minor's business life degenerates into a puff piece on lifestyles of the rich and famous. (Skip page 3/4 ;-) ) It sounds like much of his problems stem from being at odds with the industry's heavy hitt

Good call. Heck, the 50mm f/1.8 at $80 runs circles around any video recording lens. =) No autofocus is rough though.

Haha, no you can't -- we want people who can do that and Ruby on Rails too. ;-) I know you were just trying to be flip, but JavaScript is a pretty amazing language for writing frontend code.

100% agree -- at the end of the day, no matter what your background is, if you are interested in building something, doing something, or working with a particular team, the bullet points on a job posting are worthless. What matters is provi

This was a total oversight by us -- we didn't really mean "REQUIREMENT" in the sense. Of course that's insane. This is something that we actually discussed with our friends (some of them from Hacker News too). The top CS school discussion D
