I think its a cultural thing. Most people in the US (In my very uninformed opinion, mostly based on television/movies), are very explicit in their political stand. In India, its assumed almost sinful to ask for political stance/ "Who are yo

I take fundamental issue with the idea that a single metric should be sufficient to disqualify a student. Typically, other than exceptional cases, usually there is a bare minimum requirement to meet(on some criteria or other) to avoid dis

I am all for empowerment and making devs productive, but taking it to an absurd level ( making devs push code to production one day one) is not good. Making employees feel empowered is much more than one day show. Hopefully, its going to b

The bottom line is that a doctorate is not an easy thing to get, it's stressful and some people probably can't take the stress. Then, Unfortunately, they should not get doctorate. (I realize this sounds awful and unfair, but it is actuall

Would it make sense to show average karma on profile page of a user too? (This is question, NOT a feature request, as I presume that Karma at HN serves the purpose of moderating the quality of content, rather than being a redditesque user-s

I don’t care if you’re a billionaire. If you haven’t started a company, really gambled your resume and your money and maybe even your marriage to just go crazy and try something on your own, you’re no pirate and you aren’t in the club. I
