Wow this is like if multiple interchangeable cpu architectures existed or something. Every time a new llm gets released I’m so excited about how much better things will be with so many fewer monopolies. Even without an open source model I t

I love that security by difficulty is the new security by obscurity, but actually secure.

cdk is so good for aws... i haven't used terriform but I'd bet it's just as good. Stateless infrastructure is amazing. Checking my infra into code is awesome.

I think this is the most likely outcome. Then you get unlimited walking distance and no vestibular drama (or light vestibular drama). I wonder if it makes you puke if you don't quite move as far as you expected... like each step counts

So stoked about this. Lower level than holepunch, and it sounds like it has everything I need to get going.

I didn’t expect Gaussian splats to be so good at approximating geometry. It’s cool when you see a new foundational approach to something that’s been done a certain way for decades.

This feels very disingenuous, and pretty unfair. I don’t think most Americans think it’s ok for google or banks to act that way, and I also feel very uncomfortable about a sort of “mob rule” system… where informal agreements dictate which b

Can you tell me more about the safety net thing? As an American I actually don’t understand that point. Are you saying culturally your family wouldn’t feel obligated to be a safety net if another family member was struggling? And that the u

I don't get why you'd have a 100+ lambda function app... i can see purpose built lambdas (ie we have one for "graphql" and "frontend" and a few backend services) but unless you're at Meta size, why would y

GitHub's code review is pretty mediocre imo... just left Meta and I miss phabricator. I'm interested to see new stuff, hope I can get off the waitlist!

You can make a really boring series of events interesting, but without a payoff it doesn’t feel like it’s worth it. Example: I woke up this morning really really early… I checked my charging Apple Watch and noticed it was 2:15. I got up an

But why does Sam Altman have a beard and a hat? I don't think he'd be caught dead in those.

Sure but that's pretty unsustainable if your entire marketing spend is around getting a michelin star... i think if you lose a star and you go out of business it means you're probably not as good at marketing / product + mark

Basically package.json but without package.json. IE no bundle JS is back. There are still some issues, specifically with things like React, where it's kind of hard to guarantee if you use React, you'll get the same version if you

Sorry, I meant more dynamic than generatable... like doing stuff in the build file to build something complex in a more simple way. It's really 'do you make config an artifact, or do you make it code' sort of argument.

IDK. I've been using buck for a bit, and having python within grasp is pretty useful. I don't like yaml for a variety of reasons, but the biggest of which is I like my config being able to be generated... maybe that's an anti
