I feel weird... like I've never heard of this before and it seems fully built out... what am I missing?

A lot of people don’t know this but there’s a one person startup called Rundown Creator that a lot of big companies use to plan shows.

This is clever! I admire the hacker spirit in this... seems pretty interesting, and anonymized person data / trends would definitely help restaurants / other businesses who need to staff part time folks to fill out shifts.

My less cynical view (hope) maybe react-native isn't due for an update soon and they'll do it next time there's a version bump?

It's interesting to me that a tweet from a single well respected journalist (@evleaks) can set off a huge chain reaction of coverage.

I think to add extra intrigue, they're former coworkers from a startup that imploded.

The goal of a VC is not to have a high conversion rate... it's to find the big winners. Airbnb + other 'big wins' are 1 in 1500 or higher, but account for the vast majority of returns. YC started out with a sub-dozen class si

The marquee upvote worthy headline: ES6 love + webpack + Yarn in the asset pipeline. If you're still in rails land this seems pretty cool.

It's more about the integration side than the particulars of it. It's a huge project with different goals than ff, so it should be (and is being) treated as such. It's a huge, audacious, hairy project, which might happen if a

I switched for the same reason i switched to phoenix: it was just faster. Now I use it for the dev tools. It's still faster imo.

Except for one measure: Netscape died as a company. The huge rewrite contributed to killing it. If you don't ship a product (for like 4-6 years?) you're gonna die. Mozilla originally chose the name phoenix, (then firebird to avoid

This is why YC is such a breath of fresh air for entrepreneurs. VCs aren't bad for this behavior, it's completely rational, but if the big winners look like red flag city initially, a higher investment rate of smaller capital allo

This is what makes me think it's probably going to be used in pacemakers / satellites, rather than phones. Imagine the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco with radioactive isotopes. Tesla has this problem too. They shield the underside of the ca

People are downvoting I think because this is a rather pedantic point to be annoyed by. The tone is one of superiority, rather than pointing out the simple mistake. Calling a rails function a ruby function is unlikely to invalidate the enti

It's really useful to know if your customers enjoy the product with a 1 question survey. We turned a 0/10 customer into 10/10 by giving them extra love. It's useful for us.

Salt Lake City, UT has this same problem. We deal with winter 'inversions', where if it doesn't snow, we get really bad air. http://www.ci.slc.ut.us/winter-inversions-what-are-they-and-...

This is a valid non compete reason, and also a TV news anchor who a company invests in marketing shouldn't be able to jump to a cross town rival. Out of market sure, but not cross town.

I think this is true, but JS also "sucks" in different ways, so not keeping up means expending seemingly unnecessary effort in maintainability, reliability, etc. Angular 1 is impossible to maintain compared to Angular 2, for insta

I think the problem is keeping up. It's simple if you can pay attention, but if you're still on angular 1.x because you have other things to worry about, the fragmentation and pace means you can get years behind if you're not
