Such incidents remind me of 2 things 1. No matter what 99.99999999% availability a service provides, its utterly useless if the time to get back up is unacceptable. 2. Do not have remote services, which you cannot fully control to be a part

Pardon my ignorance! Coming from background of building data pipelines. It seems to me like SQL on backend data. The UI is uber cool. What makes it different from any rdbms system with UI? am I missing something ?

It would have been more useful if the paper compared Docker vs Virtual Machines instead of bare metals. It pretty much intuitive that running docker over bare metal might incur slight overhead in terms of power consumption.

This makes an assumption that you are not living in poverty. More than age, I personally feel the need to have a sufficient bank balance, which can make you financially independent and empower you to do whatever the fuck you want!

Speed and Concurrency Matters! Golang has outperformed python in both these areas. If it wasn't for the rich ecosystem for data analysis/ Devops libraries (Scikit, Numpy, Scipy, Ansible) in Python. I would have long moved to Golan

While comparing Frugal Engineering vs Art. Cost does not seem like the valid factor to compare. Also, Wages in India are paltry compared to the USA.

UBI definitely makes sense for developed countries. But, India is far away from it. Considering UBI is like taking a defeatist approach towards skill training for your countrymen.

I am afraid that, the python community has messed up 2.x => 3.X transition. Until 3.3, there seemed no incentive to port your codebase to Python 3.X. With golang getting a lot of traction and compiler tools like grumpy (python -> Go)

When I was @ yahoo! in mid 2000s, I used to argue with my principal engineer to great lengths on why he should consider Python for DevOps. Writing code in perl felt like a pissing contest on who can obfuscate and make the code do insane thi
