YC make it clear that those that aren't picked may have the best ideas, or be the best people; i.e. that YC are perfect at picking. It seems like you depend too much on YC's verdict as a judgement on yourself. If you had more deserved con

As an outsider in the UK who has no intention of applying, I agree that there's a "clubby" feel to YC. However, I don't think that's a bad thing; that's part of the benefit of being in a good beneficial club, just like any society. Cure i

Why do you think it's all YC companies? The article doesn't appear to claim that. Haysan appears to be missing; that's the one with Marie Brattberg in it IIRC. http://www.heysan.com/

So you should give YC 6% if you think we can improve your prospects by 7% Not if you think someone else will improve your prospects by a bigger ratio compared to the cut they're taking though. Don't know of anyone like that, just being pe

The dollar recently hit a 26-year low against sterling and an all-time low against the euro. Just about everything is pointing to a lower dollar. US growth is disappointing (YC excepted ;-) and is set to underperform Europe [IMF]. US rat

You're a little out of date. Try Ubuntu 7.04's live desktop CD on your Windows laptop and just see if it all works. If it does, install and save a bundle on overpriced Apple hardware.

Is Flash penetration that high? Based on the few "Mum at home with laptop" type people I know they're very wary of installing anything onto their Windows XP machines and they don't know the latest Flash plugin is any different from all the

How do you cope with many users having the Display Name "pg"? How can a reader easily tell which pg it is?

If you "print" the article they use a fixed width font and the indentation looks better. Helps to turn off the style sheet too.

I don't know of any reader that actually uses the comment tags rss2email does. Or at least it does after I made a slight change. http://rss2email.infogami.com/

Originally at http://news.ycombinator.com/comments?id=19920 Paul, might you modify the submissions page to have some guidelines? Point people to the Feature Requests thread as they clearly don't notice the link at the bottom of the page.

Go and read Slashdot if you want to see posts like this. This is Startup News.

Please use the Feature Requests link at the bottom of the page. People can vote up your post on that thread. Or find one of the many dupes and vote those up instead.

This is Startup News, not Slashdot. Go and post this kind of thing there. Or on Digg. Or Reddit. We're here because we want something different from all of those others.
