"A big downvote ratio will get most people's attention in a way that critical comments may not." I'm sorry but this is one of those things which absolutely needs citation. I can't remember the last time I looked at

In your opinion (I doubt any of what you said has hard established fact to counter it), do strict lockdowns work? Or is there a spectrum of lockdown we should be considering to balance a myriad set of social, economic and health concerns? T

The concept of making do with less in the Western world is something driven by necessity in other less wealthy nations, the prime example being the Indian "Jugaad"[1] [1]. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jugaad

Curious, explain to me why I should listen to a random person on the Internet over a university research group? "betrayed extreme ignorance of binomial confidence intervals and modeling", lots of words but zero evidence supporting

Maybe not illegal from a tax point of view but illegal as hell for someone on a H1B visa (which quite a significant number of employees in these companies have).

Reddit is still better than some other websites (Yelp being the biggest perpetrator), that open up the Play store link for their app when you click on links. Annoying and rude.

If you're interested in the science of aging I highly recommend the book "Lifespan: Why we age and why we don't have to" by David A. Sinclair a pioneer in this field. Detailed book with tons of citations but still access

Electronics on Amazon in general seems to be a hit-or-miss made worse by inventory commingling. Recently bought a PS4 controller from Amazon (purportedly from Sony). Did not last 3 months. The original controller I got with the PS4 itself

Minor nit: I believe H1B transfers for people already in the country are still being processed. But your broader point of the US government actively preventing global talent from entering the country stands. Very sad indeed.

I'm sorry but this censoring argument is getting more and more detached from reality. So now not letting ads run on a website (mind you the advertisers themselves have strong opinions on where they want their ads to run) is censoring?

Well it is an argument that has a fair bit of merit. How exactly do you expect YouTube or the creators to pay their bills? Don't feel like watching ads? You can subscribe to YouTube premium if you dislike ads so much.

+1. This argument about not knowing long term effects of COVID-19, and hence we have to keep the economy shut down indefinitely makes no sense at all. Making masks mandatory in public, keeping people at risk at home and starting to open up
