While I understand this reaction, I must say that the range of games being shown is pretty impressive. I think it depends on what are the actual limitations (the limitations that a poet accepts can lead to greater creativity, for example).

Get a lawyer. Not someone small that you've been using regularly for the little stuff who's never done this before, but someone that has experience. Be careful about this; there's a lot of dummies that put on a show of competence. Same thi

If you love programming, this is the type of thing you should be doing. Just for the love of it. No commercial possibilities, no thinking about non-programming junk like elevator pitches and liquidation preferences; just code. Wow!

What I can say, from personal experience, is that the last time I interviewed college students for a programming job (this was five years ago), we had quite a few applicants, but only one that had done anything on their own with their perso

I don't get it. Why isn't Google investing in this along with robot self-driving cars? Why isn't Khosla investing in this? Or is this the article that gets them interested? I don't pretend to have the engineering knowledge to know whether

Do you value the various Chinatowns in cities like New York and San Francisco. To me, these unplanned, spontaneous developments is what makes a city worthwhile. Modern urban planners seem to want to make such spontaneity impossible, and wil

How is what he's saying different from what RMS has said how you should make money with open source software? You might not like Ellison, but making money by offering support services is perfectly legitimate with open source software.

Because it would take work and time to put such a system in place, and they are overwhelmed right now. Plus, it would certainly cost money which is probably not in budgets that have been cut to the bone. There's also a cost/benefit analysis

First sensible comment about Facebook. All the outcry now is somewhat mystifying because who didn't expect Facebook to start monetizing the private information? How did we all expect them to make billions of dollars otherwise? The right way

Nope, like many others here, I use Facebook as a public communication medium, which means I don't post private things there. It is not a tool for intimacy; it's a resume that I am handing out to perfect strangers. Perhaps, over time, had th

Is it just me, or is this kind of argument completely vacuous? If it didn't bring world peace, it must not be a force for good. The last 30 or 40 years, or perhaps all the decades since World War 2, technology (including the internet) has e

Ok, two things that bother me about Blippy: The first is mild. Why do I want other people, even my friends, to know what I buy? The second is: which creepy "friends" of mine want to know what I buy? Maybe the only reason to create a temp ac

This is why VCs should put some money into the pockets of the founders when they fund a company. There may be good reasons, as far as the future of the company goes, why they shouldn't sell out to Yahoo or someone else. But, we are talking
