The Android compatibility layer is actually Alien Dalvik developed by Myriad. It is mostly used on set-top boxes for TVs. Jolla just licensed it for their phones. As far as I know, even on the latest Sailfish X, Alien Dalvik only supports

Half a year ago in September, I left Sailfish OS and Jolla after I had exclusively used "alternative" mobile operating systems. I started with the Nokia N900, after that I had the Nokia N9, and then both the Jolla and Jolla C with

This looks interesting to finally replace the outdated Firefox password manager. It is especially important as it was recently shown that the protection by the "master password" does not meet modern security standards. But what ex

In most cases, it is too late anyway at that point, as the shell redirection already truncated the file. Such a check might only help you realize you just deleted the text you wanted to process.

As for all cloud providers, you are billed by an hourly rate instead of committing to pay a fixed price for the full month. This gives the customer the flexibility to scale the required power dynamically.

You are comparing the maximum write data rate of HFS+ and APFS with the write rate of mkfile with small blocks. I do not think you can assume that the write rate in the filesystem stays the same if you decrease the block size. The expensive

The headline is completely bogus. The author switched both the filesystem from HFS+ to APFS and the Meltdown patch was applied. This effect cannot be attributed to just one of them without further testing.

MacPorts has been providing binary packages since 2.0, which was released in 2011. Many pre-compiled binaries are even available for old macOS versions back to 10.6. There are only a few ports where the license does not allow binary distrib

I see it as part of portability that you do not need to use any external system for bootstrapping. Imagine as a developer who compiles base from source you had to find another system only to compile rustc and then transfer it to your machin

OpenBSD supports a wide variety of hardware platforms, including machines with Alpha, PA-RISC, and SPARC64 processors. On each of them, the base system is able to compile itself. If rustc cannot even build itself on i386, what kind of suppo
