one thing i kinda regret with going with DDR4 13-gen: the ability to have 48GB per DIMM slot instead of getting maxed out at 32GB per slot. I'm on a mini-ITX system with 2 DIMM slots.

Wendell from LevelOneTech has a custom setup that does this, but in my own experience it's better to have a "main part" of the screen in the ergonomic zone and use the rest of the space for auxiliary windows. Window managemen

It takes a bit of work, honestly. I slowly shifted my timeline from tech/dev centric to a niche that feels comfortable and not outrage-based, but it needs pruning like a garden. The best way is to signal to the algorithm that i'm

To me it's more like the 3060 having 16GB is weird. It has the most VRAM in the generation after the 3090 (24GB).

I knew about Magic Lantern but just found out about CHDK! I'll definitely try to grab a S95 to use with it. Yeah the APS-C cameras definitely has better sensors (even accounting for the better highlight falloff from the older CCD senso

Love this. Due to the rising costs of film lots of people are switching to older, CCD sensor digital pocket/prosumer cameras. They produce great photos in good lighting (ISO200-400, like film). The sensor quality and "raw" im

For AI training 4090 is more efficient by quite a lot. Trade for a 4090 if you have the money for it and a good enough rig. Otherwise the 24GB VRAM of a 3090 is good and having more system RAM/disk helps more instead of a 4090. https:

Postgres + S3 is a great choice but is there any limitation on changing it to SQLite + on disk? Thinking that this could be easily deployed to serverless+disk like fly.io without additional components.

Same is happening in Indonesia. The central bank standardized a QR code format for ~all digital payments and people can do cross-platform payments. Makes stuff so much easier.

Another alternative is to try Modin. They wrap a scalable engine (doesn't have to be multiple machine, speedup happens locally from single -> multithread) with Pandas API so you just need to change your imports. .apply() is also aut

thanks for sharing. I've thought about the same approach. Conda installs are.. annoying to say the least, but they do provide a better UX compared to manually managing venvs. Your approach seems mature. (why not ./venv/ per p

Yeah it's basically wholly loaded to memory for quantisation. Some optimization should be possible, and yes the quantized models can't be distributed sadly.

Yes I'm facing this when trying to convert a YOLO-based model to TorchScript for mobile (React Native) usage. I wish I can also package the whole pre/post processing from Python to TorchScript instead of having to rewrite it in JS

I think it's about the quantization process and loading the model. I needed just above 64GB of RAM + Swap to quantize the 35B model to int4. Not to mention much slower inference time.

That's really cool. I see you have much faster inference compared to the PlayTorch example. What size YOLOv5 are you using?

It’s a bit confusing but from a YT video it seems the device still need a coldplate + heatpipe, and the airjet is stuck on the heatpipes themselves replacing cooling fins. The airjet itself blasts the air into it’s own internal coldplate fr

tangential but the size of 4090 seems to be a mistake and hindering usecases like this. I believe NVIDIA changed to the samsung process a bit late and it produces less heat, but they have communicated to OEMs about the cooling requirements
