Even if it would be cheap to launch junk into space, we'd still have to solve some of the same issues we'd have to solve now as well: collection. To put it on a rocket, you'd have to collect the junk first, which we currently

Brace yourself to feel a bit sad as chances are you've not done many or any of the things suggested here. Few people climb mountains and start companies at 16. What is wrong with listing academic achievements? Or with volunteering? &qu

The advantage of suctions grippers is that they are naturally compliant, and thus forgiving of positioning errors. There's some cool looking combinations as well, Righthand Robotics makes grippers that retracts a suction cup into a set

Most industrial robots are relatively simple machines that repeat a task described in details. Only input may be to wait until a new part came in or to move down the stack of parts until the gripper runs into something to grip.

> Delivery is expensive. It's time-consuming, and customers are rarely willing to pay the true cost of it. I think that's the main problem. Delivery isn't free and so far has been subsidized by Uber's investors or dra

Not that I like the answer, but the reason is assurance: it was not certain these alternatives would exist. And since NASA is beholden to politics with shorter cycles than rocket development cycles, it's also jobs program.

Thing is, it's expected of a lot of devices with a screen to have that screen be a touch screen too. I've worked on the touch screen UI for a 3D printer, one that used to have a tiny OLED and a rotating push button. Company did s

Something simpler can work just as well or much easier and this holds for many many problems or tasks. To do dishes, we do not have robot arms holding a brush but dishwashers. Think of a Roomba vs. robot with a sweeper etc. Instead of a rob
