This is awesome! Well defined, and I like the design and intro video. I wish there were something like this for writing journal articles. Right now, it's a total pain.

I made it about halfway past Saturn before I gave up scrolling. Nice work. One comment: If you're using km for the distance units, you might as well stick with it (metric) for all the other examples like 75 mi/hr and 475 ft to be

What a douchey thing to do. If you were really interested in helping the HN community you'd just put in the direct link instead of this affiliate shit. I felt dirty just reading your post.

I ordered one not just to stick it to BCBS, but also because it's great knowing all of this is going directly to the patients at Watsi. Well played.

Just downloaded onto my iPhone and it's pretty cool... however, I don't think I'm the right audience. My life isn't nearly as interesting as Mike Matas and co. It just makes all the shitty pics that everyone posts on my

I can't help but LOL at anyone who thought this was going to be the next Bitcoin and were going to "get rich" with this. Seems smart to keep more doge in play, but it'll also kill a lot of the interest in it as well from

This is awesome. Really nice implementation and so useful for many different applications. Just signed up and looking forward to trying this out.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. Seems like a Tinder'd UI for answering questions on a modernized Yahoo Answers/Ask Jeeves with a Quora effect.

Congrats on shipping your apps! That's great. Not sure if it's just me, but the "Do Something" app icon [1] looks a bit too heavily inspired by the Apple Trailers app icon [2], with gloss removed for iOS 7 (on iOS 7 itse

Neat, would be cool to add a link or hover over feature too for additional info on a particular event. I'll try to work on it if I have time, but hopefully someone else more capable is on it already!

This is awesome. I'd like to see more companies and startups work with Watsi to bring awareness to doing social good (especially when you don't have to lift a finger to do any of the hard stuff, these collaborations are making it

It's not about avoiding the truth, it's about looking for the truth in a specified area but finding something that's not really a truth but appears as such. I think it's important to weigh the pros and cons of something

Wow, that's insane. You make a great point about it being useful for persons who are adopted. I agree that it's useful to know more about yourself that way. However, the manner in which your data is handled BEFORE you even get it

I'd never want to get my DNA tested by a service like this. It may be cool, but there's too many things at play here. - privacy - security of data - wrongful use of data - spread of misinformation - mind fuck

This is badass. I wish there were something like this or Seaborn [1] for Matlab. Anyone know of anything similar that can make the ugly default Matlab plots turn into beauties like these? [1] http://stanford.edu/~mwaskom

I was in the Bay Area a few weeks ago and was able to try out the Xfinity WiFi. It was actually really convenient being able to work from the small coffee shops in Berkeley and in the city. The speeds were awesome too, around 27Mbps down an

This is true. I think it would require working directly with SolidWorks to make it happen since everything of theirs is so proprietary.

This is so great! I'm always working with STL's and always asking myself, "what's different in these models?" I'd love to see meta data and other 3D file types like VRMLs or SolidWorks parts included in the fut

This is great! Very cool project. The fact that it's open source makes it all the better. Definitely a tool I wish I had while I was learning how to code. Seems like you can port this to almost anything, not just a Raspberry Pi.

I think it's pretty clear that this whole thing could've been avoided if you went through the normal security screening process that everyone else normally obliges to do. On the other hand, what happened to you is sick and disturb
