I'm sure any modern IR missile can shoot down any current stealth plane if it knows the location to within a few kms. There are FLIR images of thr F22, nothing extraordinary about it in the IR spectrum.

This is such an underrated comment! Yeah, right, it's so nice platforms prevent people from selling, just as the big fish unload their own stocks.

I absolutely agree on the 30 minutes commute. I used to have that, my office changed location to 1h commute and the 2 days of wfh still mean more commute time than no wfh previously. I've had 50minutes commute before, but it was just

The romans had an intricate system that prevented oil fraud, they could track and amphora back to the farm it originated in, and every step along the way. We should be able to do the same with modern technology and severely penalize individ

You mean magnet AND a solenoid, surely, the actuator can't be just a magnet. That's why I think you both are right.

I'm genuinely curious as to why do they even bother with those strings then? Is it shame? Is it something else?

It takes children yeara to develop nakedness shame, and they develop it because of their peers, not something biological.

I'm a christian, but there are even bigger issues with Genesis from a scientific point of view: how about the dinosaurs, bacteria, viruses and so on. There are some Bible quotes that seem to show transcedental, accurate insights -- lik

What do you make of Adam being ashamed of being naked in the presence of God? To me, that seems to be just something a clothed adult in a pudic society would think, not something the first man would actually feel.

It still is pretty clever and non trivial to come up with. I bet most people who haven't thought about it beforehand or heard the solution, would fail an interview question as "So, we have a database of 100s Million passwords and

Just as the majority of people who catch the flu don't get tested for it, only the serious cases do. So we know covid19 spreads much easier than the flu and is orders of magnitude deadlier than the flu for those that get tested/co

So, it's almost like the virus is actually good for the markets in the longest bull market on record? That almost sounds delusional to me, but hey, as long as central banks can pump money into the markets, anything goes.

I was talking about novel/real-world applications. With software, you can pretty much know in advance what will work, ROUGHLY how much it will take and how much it will cost. With ML you have a high chance that ML will not work at al

I'm no statistics expert, but given they can predict election outcomes from samples of a couple thousand people for tens of milions of voters, 40k+ infected with coronavirus is enough to have a very good idea about death rates.

I'm so sick of people comparing this to the flu. It's nothing like the flu -- coronavirus death rates are 2%, flu 0.01 -- it's 200 times as deadly and it can spread before any symptoms.

How is a rise in house prices helping the nobler parts of the economy? People spend considerable more of their income on mortgages or rents, leaving a lot less for other less fixed and shorter lived assets. I'd be 1000% satisfied with
