It's not fair for yourself and you'd do a huge disservice to yourself, but perhaps someone who said "I've seen this before" and got positive results can contradict me, but let me explain: 99% of people (as a person

I really like your number of partitions with nice divisors, I thought of it myself and enthusiastically raved about it to an architect (which I really respect for a lot of reasons) but he insisted on some formula about throughput and I drop

I was really shocked myself. I guess I got to my senses when I started studying for radio license and made a very expensive list of radio equipment that I couldn't otherwise use because I live in an apartment building (antennas and a

Funny because a while ago I had some problems with a somewhat noisy neighbor listening to dubious music at odd hours -- not enough to even record his music on my phone, but I live in an old apartment building and it was enough to keep me up

You mean pre-commit to the maximum parallelism by setting the number of partitions or am I missing something? In that case, sure, theoretically with JMS you can spawn as many parallel consumers as you want and with kafka you're limited

Doesn't confluent offer a JMS client for kafka? So certainly you can use kafka as a queue.

Because with kafka you can do (almost? exactly once delivery? transactions?) everything you can do with RabbitMq and a lot more, and everybody wants a piece of the action, but not everybody is prepared to pay the costs.

We could go a step further and think robot infantry soldiers, but airplanes are easier to automate. I'm sure that if the same effort was put into self-driving self-shooting tanks as in teslas, the result would be more than adequate vs

Modafinil especially with coffee absolutely feels like a clasic stimulant IF I've taken a long enough tollerance break. I see only benefits -- maybe I'm a little bit too talkative and too many things seem interesting/worth ex

Earth will be completely unhospitable in the next billion years, at least for aerobic life. That I find fascinating! 200-500 million years after Earth formed, life was there. We witness it now and 1 billion years from now it will all be g

3D graphics is not a good moat, I agree. There are much better moats -- such as recursion, there's no way I'd let someone in my team if the don't get recursion, even though we almost never use it :)

I used to interview for a big company, and I could tell some candidates already knew the questions, but I'm a bad interviewer myself as I tend to rate most candidates as 7+/10, I very rarely found coding-illiterate candidates. Whe

Groups can get a life of their own, like a virus. Those who do admit fault can be replaced with others who are vocal about not admitting fault. The more polarizing, non falsifiable the beliefs of the group, the harder the change.
