Curious, as a European, what do you find wrong with some of the practices in SV? Genuinely interested in hearing your perspective (perhaps if you elaborate and keep it objective as possible you'll avoid some of the mass downvotes).

I think you'll observe an impedance mismatch with this crowd and your thoughts on having control over one's fate. Desire and ambition don't seem to have the same appeal as being a victim of circumstances (in the first world,

>It's a good reminder of privilege. En vogue Orwellian group think for simple minds. Implying that some have undeserved fortune is reprehensible with this complete disregard for context.

I long stopped using AVG because their business model seemed to transition to largely something predatory - browser bars, hijacked home pages, "tune-ups".

Brutal. From conversations with other engineers, this is a very common network operating system with banks in Europe. Would not be surprised if urgent code reviews and security audits are taking place at the campuses of other large network

Agreed. I moved furniture as a young man, and that was only in 8 hours stints at the longest. At the end of the day, my body seemed to rebel against me if I even slightly exerted myself. My current 60+ work weeks are mainly spent sitting,

"These operators increase the burden to learn Swift as a first programming language" It looks like they may be trying to make it easier for current tweens that would have otherwise learned PHP. Don't see the value in this. T

BGP is far more flexible and less expensive, which is why Microsoft, Google, and Amazon have used it. Further, the data structures used by BGP (NLRIs) are easily extensible for complex networks involving many dimensions for path selection.

To be specific here, RAM is not the problem. It's often on-chip memory/TCAM. RAM is abundant. The place where the hardware actually installs the routes (the data plane/FIB) is often constrained.

Sorry for the nitpick, but is it logarithmic or exponential in this case? To the point, I would not be surprised if 5,500 was the "settling" point. In my experience, the hiring pendulum takes some time to swing far enough to incl
