One of the things people often seem to overlook in the US is that at about the time the wage stagnation started, we also began the process of roughly doubling the workforce by removing barriers against women entering the labor market. Then,

The reality is that it sounds like you don't have the skills for the work you want and are chosing to turn your nose up at the work you can get. This obviously isn't sustainable. You need to get a job. Any job. Preferably the best

Presumably the loss of a tax base. I think OP is saying the laws slowly drive people out in a way that doesn't make it apparent the reason people are leaving is those laws. Eventually you wind up with a situation that levies high taxes

Never heard of this one, and didn't know anything about it. I tried reading the Wikipedia page. Now I've heard of it, but still don't know anything about it.

Cherry pick? No. Anecdote? Sure. In my experience women have dressed at or below the level of professionalism (for lack of a better word) than the men. Women have a lot more variance in what they can wear, and very few people will choose to

When I was your age I thought I'd always play the guitar. It was inconceivable that I would ever not play the guitar. While I wouldn't go so far as to say I don't play anymore, 23 year old me would be appalled at how little I

Have you ever looked at the federal budget? I'd say we're demanding plenty of both...and we're going bankrupt.

I've been checked out for a bit. Did they finally come up with concrete evidence? Are you saying they actually altered vote tallies?

Personally, I hate the sound of people chewing and smacking their lips directly in my ear as they work their way through their 'fresh that afternoon' gas station nachos. But that's just me :)

I love mine too, and use it all the time, but I got it from a friend who bought a game that bundled the steam link for like $1 or something. No way they're doing anything other than trying to offload :(

Yes of course. I didn't care to enumerate every possible choice one could make. I guess I'd summarize my point as this: License what you make according to the outcomes you want. Do not complain about getting an outcome different f

I'm sorry, but I'm kind of tired of this double standard. If you want to get paid for your project, charge for it. If you want a lot of people to use and benefit from it, give it away. If you give it away, don't then complain

My advice to friends who are chewing on some major decision is always to tell them to flip a coin. It's the perfect way to shut off their brain, which isn't getting them anywhere (or they would have decided already!), and get them

Whereas requiring a balance is 'more fair' than the double standard of permitting all female boards or something like that?

Ah, gotcha. It seems more wrong to me, but I guess I'm thinking in terms of 'What would this do' as opposed to 'Is this law a violation of various laws / legal philosophy'.

I was going to say this. I just saw that movie for the first time about 6 months ago and it killed me. For some reason I had it in my mind it wasn't a good movie, but it's one of my recent favorites now.

I hear Reason used to be good. My experience with it over the last three years or so is that it's mostly garbage. It's become a lot of narrative confirmation but with little quality reasoning (drink!) or evidence. I don't go

As a libertarian, Reason annoys the bejesus out of me. As a human, journalists annoy the bejesus out of me. The real test here is, are drugs more efficacious then prior to the legislation. If not, we need to review it. I'd argue repeal

Steam does this. I honestly didn't get a ton of use out of it, but I only really followed Jim Sterling, Total Biscuit and TB's 30 FPS Locked curation list. The latter was the only one I found particularly useful because it turns o
