Waymo does not sell cars. They are in a different business. I don’t really know the numbers but Waymo adds something like 50k worth of hardware into the cars. That is not a viable approach for consumer cars (Mercedes, Tesla, etc).

One proposal I heard was to make the market "tick slower". Accumulate orders for, e.g., a minute and then resolve them all at once (without favoring the early ones). This way a delay of a few seconds doesn't matter.

Variables are not mentioned. What if you want to use the same color for backgrounds here, border there, and text there? CSS can do that today with something like var(--my-color). To me, that makes a CSS build unnecessary. Sorry, sass and co

Still too complicated. It goes wrong with "Let’s add the Transaction column to our table." Don't store the account data. Instead store the transactions. Compute the accounts from that. The table "Transactions" shoul

In C, you can get away with just this (no includes or definitions): void main() { puts("Hello, World!"); } You get a warning, but it is fine.

Another interesting fact: Write a Hello World program in C++, run the preprocessor on it (g++ -E), then count the lines of the output. I just tried and it shows me 33738 lines (744 lines for C btw). In a language like C++, even Hello World

Train an LLM with it and then let it write the code. At least Microsoft believes that works.

Download ollama and use one of the dolphin models. You can literally do it in two commands: curl -fsSL https://ollama.com/install.sh | sh ollama run dolphin-phi That puts you into a chat with an uncensored LLM.

I learned that OSS is actually worthless. If the code, as an artifact, had any value there would be all kinds of tax implications. This is a weird point of view to me but still a valid one. I agree with it to some degree: Having the code is

My guess for a reason would be that developers rarely care for business results. The technical challenge of scalability looks more like fun than fixing yet another enterprise permission issue.

I agree, but I have no clue how to fix that. Many industries should take on more debt but somehow they don’t. Maybe they lack ideas what to do with the money?

by qznc 3y ago
Yes, i think all ofthese are factors. A particularly annoying one is the debt break (Schuldenbremse) Germany introduced a few years ago. It prevents many investments currently. This one could be fixed relatively quickly though.
