I completely agree with you. By writing I was thinking about RFCs not emails. Have a face-to-face discussion and have a shared written document. If I have to chose between the two, the I would favor the written document though.

Wasn't thinking about email but more about RFCs. I have been in such whiteboard discussions. Then I had the same discussion again one week later because another one needed the information. And again. And again. I have heard from such w

To make decisions quickly, I totally agree. If you want to understand the why, it is essential to have it in writing. If the problem is complex, then one guy writing for 30 minutes can provide more clarity than 5 discussing for an hour.

Taiwan and Singapur seem to have learned their lessons from SARS-CoV-1 but it did not hit us enough to act back then.

The RKI statistics are not complete because the electronic submission is not done by everybody (allegedly NRW is particularly bad and has high numbers). I guess the system is new and the federal organizations are too busy to use it properly

I believe it is mostly hindsight. For any outcome you will find someone who predicted it a month ago on Twitter. It does not help you to determine which of the thousand current predictions will be correct.

There is also liability as a risk. At least for big companies. There is no money in sueing a startup, but big companies get constantly trialed. Especially, if they work in security/safety/mission-critical field.

That would be the good scenario because then we can move the critical ICU equipment from outbreak to outbreak. The bad scenario is if it becomes too much. China sending equipment to Italy now is a good sign.

I saw that number as the usual spread of the seasonal flu pandemics. My guess is she generalized it to COVID-19.

Can you elaborate? I'm half-way through it. I know most of the general stuff already but my knowledge is from lots of sources I mostly forgot. This books seems to be a good collection for this topic. At least, I don't know any sub

As long as old and compact reddit are still there, I'm fine with it. Twitter on other hand has no lightweight version, unfortunately.

This is true. Another explanation could be a two stage testing process. The CI test for develop might run quickly in a few minutes, but the test suite for master might run for a day or require manual testing.

The only way to be sure: CI checks out master, merges the feature branch, and tests that version. If successful, push to origin. If the push fails (because a parallel pushed happened in between) start from the beginning. The challenge here

For many people the difference between a prototype and a product is very small. In this safety critical business, the difference is huge.

Look at the WHO dashboard [0] at "Cases by date of report", I see less than 2k every day since February 16. This is not exponential growth but stagnation. Of course, the virus is spreading and it can explode at random places. That
