They're plan9 elitists. They're frankly a lot like you, except their system of choice is plan9, not solaris. And on Linux, the FHS does kind of suck: there's no difference between /lib and /usr/lib, or /sh

That's not true. Unlike presidential elections, we don't all have to make the same choice. openrc, runit, s6, nosh, bsdinit... there are plenty of choices that are better.

They built many. runit, s6, nosh, bsdinit, openrc. But yeah, it is being blamed for bloating init, because for one thing, cron isn't init's job. And that's just the start.

No, you're actually wrong, IIRC. The other systems still fundamentally do init's job, as well as managing services. They DON'T do everything, including: -replace cron -handle dynamic device files (udev's job) -set the ho

Ironically, suckless.org is a bunch of plan9 elitists. The plan9 elitists are similar to solaris elitists, but have radically different beliefs, and probably believe that Bonwick and Leventhal and the rest should be jailed for working on ZF

I didn't know that Objective-C defaulted to ARC. Thanks for the information, and I am sorry for misrepresenting the language.

JS's sins are far less than those of PHP, however.

If you segfault, that's not because your state is corrupt. Not usually, anyways. Typically, you'll segfault from a use-after-free error or similar.

It's not great prose, but it's an excellent phrase, especially in context. Then again, that poem is not a great poem, but it works well in the context, and does its job suitably well. I assume this isn't what you meant...

Everything's easy to sneer at if you've got enough of a lip. It's not paint-by-numbers in the later books, it actually has effort put into it, and it's quite a fun read. Then again, I liked Eragon when I read it. Then ag

Apparently, Google disagrees. YouTube hosts a massive amount of video, so they may be right. I actually don't think YouTube Red was necessarily a bad idea: People get to skip ads, and play videos offline/with their phone locked. W

Manual memory management: It's all fun and games until OOM errors come knocking, or- Segmentation Fault: Core Dumped. I rest my case. There's a place for manual memory management. It's not in application code.

I was exaggerating, but the point was that the other app development languages aren't without their flaws. I won't argue with you on how good the languages are. It's a matter of opinion, and I'll never change your mind.

The result you got isn't actually what you'd get with proper cons cells. With real conses, you wouldn't get a list, you'd get an improper list, or a pair: i.e: Scheme: (define x (cons 'a (cons 'b '()))

Besides, while JS's problems are very real, they're quite exaggerated. It's still a perfectly usable language, even without TS and whatnot. And unlike some languages used for app programming, an error doesn't have the
