I understand why google would want to do this and why developers would want to do this but this is MY personal device. It's not googles job to police what I install on my own device. Sure, show a warning that the app I am installing is

Who knows what the original play store apps did to begin with. Most of the top apps are basically malware. Maybe someone added a bitcoin miner to the existing spyware that came from the original app but it just comes back to the same thing

I don't think Aptoide is distributed through the google play store as google doesn't allow app stores in there so if the user installed it manually to their system then google has no right to be messing with that.

One thing they can do is create a website that streams it from the official servers without having to proxy it. I think I saw some websites were actually doing this.

Problem is with IPv6 encrypted SNI won't mean anything because an IP address directly translates to a website so your ISP still knows what website you are on.

It also leaves less time for reverse engineers and hackers to work out the device. By the time you have worked out the 300 step process to replace the power button on the latest iphone without triggering the security chip its too late and n

I'm not sure how useful this is. The furniture I have had usually wears out fairly evenly so by the time something actually fails the whole thing is in a pretty bad state. Having it disassembleable might actually make it worse because

Exactly. If it wasn't for the economic systems set up by the government there would be no reason to make repairing things hard because that is simply a byproduct of the current system that is controlled by the government.

The GDPR was wonderful. One of the websites I use had an export option but it only gave some of the data which didn't include the bit I wanted and then the GDPR came along and now I get a CSV dump of every table for my user.

Typical scam. Problem is verified accounts can change names so scammers steal details for random verified accounts and then use them to pretend to be high profile accounts.

This is a valid point that is getting downvoted. Counting coins is a huge pain. Using notes isn't too bad but then you end up with all these scrap coins. The banks here in Australia have a solution for that though. They have a machine

We don't need another centralized locked down system to replace the current one. Apples system would be even worse. If I don't own an Apple or Android device I just can't make payments anymore?

I'm a big privacy and open source advocate. I spent a while searching for an open source solution that lets me be in control of where the data is hosted and who can access that but I found nothing close to what strava and others offer.
