I picture some evangelical church where people get together every week to amp each other up and randomly yell out some angry sound bites while looking around eagerly for approval.

I do the same thing. My PC is hooked up via HDMI to a receiver which goes to the TV via HDMI. I use VNC on my phone to remote control it. It works well. The phone’s touch screen functions as a mouse and you can pull up the phone’s on screen

As an American with a strong personal interest (kids) in keeping the country strong and competitive in the future, it seems bizarre to cheer for our largest adversary to gain advantages over us.

Damn. I bought brother just so I wouldn't be locked into overpriced cartridges. Although what I've been doing now is to reuse the starter cartridge, add some very inexpensive third-party toner to it, and reset the pages counter. I

Sony TVs are not much better, I had to do quite a bit of work to de-Google mine. This was years ago, I'm sure it's even worse now.

Years ago my Sony TV came with Google Assistant enabled, and when I disabled it, it nagged me for a long time to turn it back on until I installed some launcher that finally shut off all the nags and full screen ads. The biggest button on t

Torrent is what I meant by public/private website, I didn’t want to spell it out in case someone got offended. I rarely use direct file download but for the odd mp3, console firmware/keys, etc it can be easier to grab exactly what

That was a stretch, really had to jam that little dig in there, huh? Although if they did somehow deploy their constellation as a legible ad, I wouldn't even complain. "Drink Coke" spelled out with a hundred satellites would

I've seen ads of several varieties: - Public websites are chock full of ads - Downloading a file often means hopping through several redirects (each of which is an ad) and sometimes even having to "complete an offer" to get t

My wife also likes ads. It drives me crazy. Half of the time she’s on instagram, she’s paging through ads. At least we have agreed to minimize our children’s exposure to ads. For example if there’s an educational show only on YouTube I will

I had a tree root growing through the driveway asphalt. My handyman told me to get Roundup Pro because it will actually kill the root, unlike the other herbicides. So I got a gigantic gallon tub of it. It was effective. Good to know that &q

We had a 5 day power outage (Bellevue WA, not exactly in the middle of nowhere) and after 2 days both the cable internet and cell towers went down, so even 5G would not have helped. I had backup power but no internet. On the way back from B

The more effective way to do this that is popping up everywhere is a loyalty program that uses your phone number as the identifier. Buy 10 coffees, get one free, but the purchases are only tracked if you input your phone number.

My iPhone running Safari and uBlock Origin lite is able to do this. I don't have the youtube app installed. I don't even think the ad blocker is necessary for background audio, but I don't want to see ads. 1. Go to youtube.co
