You could still use javascript with a hash in the URL to keep track of the current page so that it can be bookmarked.

I know I'm showing my age by saying this, but I really don't see the benefit of AJAX in this case. It's basically a frameset powered by javascript, so why not just use a frameset to begin with? It would work in more browsers without issues

They can do that because they have integrated commercial software into the platform. When someone is using .Net, there's a high probability that it will run on a Windows server and probably also use MS SQL. That's where they get their money

I noticed some differences in the code that I think are not equivalent Perl: print $local_process_var, " ", &gen_pg_template(), "\n" Python: print local_process_var, " ", gen_pg_template() Java: System.out.println( timestamp + " " + gen

I personally like Java a lot and would use it in a startup. It's solid and easy to get good performance out of. It also has a huge amount of open source libraries. But I wouldn't necessarily use it for everything. Python / Ruby has good fra

There was a funny quote a few weeks ago about how Zuckerberg wanted to go in and fix a few bugs and developers were complaining because he was way slower, etc, and basically just interfered with the process. Zuckerberg is a college drop o

It's a cool hack, but if you are going to have a server in front of a web server why not use something like Varnish instead and get caching as well as load balancing.

It's an interesting theory, but it doesn't explain why the second Wednesday has more prostitution. And following your theory, I would think that those Wednesdays have more people around because they have more money to spend.

I think it would be even more user friendly if you included a more readable expiration. Something like "this link will expire in 2 days (8/19/2011 10:29:11 PM EST)". This gives the user a more understandable deadline, without having to chec

That number of patents is "proof" that the patent system is broken. I have nothing against patents, but they need to describe actual innovations. I have problems believing they had 24500 real innovations. If a company can produce 24500 pate

I think it's too easy to focus on specific problems (food/water/medicine), rather than focusing on the cause of these issues. There are many countries that have the resources to take care of themselves, but lack the social and political str

It only costs you €480 if you lose time that would otherwise be spent at work. But I understand (and agree) with your point of losing time. If you use it for as your media library, 4 days with only standard TV broadcasts can be boring :-)
