Reminds me of a bit in one of Neal Stephenson's books where a MMORPG company hired a team of geologists to generate a geologically plausible map for their game. The hardest part of their job was finding ways to integrate the parts of t

I don't think so... both linux and windows binaries are using the same SYSCALL cpu instruction, and thus must be going to the same handler in the NT kernel.

There are both free and commercial X servers for Windows, and you can get a linux app running under WSL to work with one of those X servers very easily. I played with it a little bit and it worked fine.

Interesting, I wonder how much overhead is added to syscalls to look up the process type. Does NT still do this check when no WSL processes are running?

I think they had to go with ARC due to the requirement that swift interoperates with Objective-C. If that hadn't been a constraint, yeah it would be an interesting decision.

There's no support for the 32 bit OSX runtime. The 32 bit iOS is similar to the 64 bit iOS/OSX runtime and works fine.

This is cool, but once swift is open sourced I'd imagine that you'll be able to use emscripten to generate JavaScript code instead of native asm. In fact you can probably do that today by havin swiftc emit llvm IR and imputing tha
