Maybe you're not aware how much cheaper data is in other countries. Here in Brazil, unlimited Whatsapp + Voice + 5Gb costs 8$/month. Surely there are many factors to this but those Canadian prices still sound insane to me. This we

There's a subreddit called r/toprightmessi which is a collection of graphs showing how much Messi excels in so many respects. Crazy how in the biggest sport in the world there can be a player so far above and beyond the rest.

I believe they're referring to the essential complexity of the domain. An operating system has some "lower bound" on how complex it can be, which is rather high. But some stuff doesn't _have_ to be hard. Like OP said, th

I've recently started learning Go and chose a project-based approach. I've been reading "Writing an Interpreter in Go" and "Powerful Command-Line Applications in Go" and it's been loads of fun.

I'm not a fan of the pastel/low contrast style most of the themes have these days. My theme of choice is Ayu (dark) ( https://github.com/Shatur/neovim-ayu ). Absolutely gorgeous.

I'm a big fan of how simple, unobtrusive, and quick the pages on Substack are. Truly a breath of fresh air compared to so much of the web these days.

When presenting the original iPhone Steve Jobs announced that it ran OS X. I'm not sure how far apart they've grown but at that point they were probably very similar.

I do something similar with my passwords, where I include the name of the website in there in some manner. Definitely not very secure, but probably better than simply using the same password everywhere.

I think this serves at least as a clear demonstration of how advanced the current state of AI is. I had played with GPT-3 and that was very impressive but I couldn't even dream something as good as D-ALLE 2 was already possible.

The author's model doesn't really say that Reykjavik is a good option. From my understanding, the graph shows the cities which have less variation than all cities colder than them.

Haven't seen anyone talk about the notebook the author is working on, with UUIDs and QR Codes. Never really thought about adding something like that to a notebook, will definitely try to come up with a nice system myself.

As a student who participated in Math Olympiads throughout middle and high school, having to be on the same track as everyone was downright painful. This type of thing really shouldn't exist.

The point of parent comment is that the consequences of having kids are not what they seem from the outside. Maybe your parent friends' experiences are vastly different from how you perceive them (or how they express them).
