Good to know, thanks. We have not hit any rate limiting so far, but we're a relatively small team -- a dozen devs, a few hundred commits per day that trigger CI (we don't do CD), across half a dozen active repos.

I believe this is a good use for a GitHub machine account. IIRC, GitHub recommends this practice in their docs, with a username of "YOUR_USERNAME-machine". The machine user is just an ordinary GitHub user, added as a member of the

Easier: Make some trivial amendment to it (does not need to be ratified), and then just start calling it something else. "It was a disaster, but We Fixed It because I'm your favorite."

Most paywalls are easy to bypass. Most HN readers know this. Some of us also have FT subscriptions though. That'd be an interesting poll. What % of HN readers (poll participants) subscribe to the big paywalled story sources? NYT, FT, T

It depends on the wattage and duty cycle of your sump pump. My experience with sump pumps is low wattage and intermittent use. Sounds like this does not correspond to yours.

I support Puerto Rican statehood and representation in US federal elections†. Until then, I don't see any hope of meaningful federal support in times of Puerto Rican crisis. Too many Americans are not sure whether Hawaii is a state, or

The phrase "dubious distinction" only means one thing though. If you parse the words separately, the other meaning is literally correct , but will not match the speaker's intent.

Running a local resolver is very simple. If you know the steps -- install software, download root hints file, glance at default config (probably no changes needed), set packet filter rules, start daemon, update DHCP config -- you can be up

That's not correct. A "dubious distinction" is a distinction which is undesirable. West Virginia has the dubious distinction of being the US state with the lowest average educational achievement.

But it doesn't. It just makes you feel better about it. If anything, relocating makes the mouse more likely to die slowly and painfully. So, your options are: definitely quick and easy, with some ick factor for you? Or false feelings o

> If they're being forced to do something, that suggests someone doesn't believe they would do it voluntarily But wait. US retail shops are not forced to accept USD. They can, if they choose, accept payment only in smiles.

On the scale of humaneness, "family" will always score higher than "group". But yeah, it's a content and positioning call for the product and marketing teams to make.

I think "family" is just the humane, user-friendly, non-corporate word for "group" in this context.

The survival chances of relocated mice are basically nil. You are deluding yourself to make yourself feel better. No judgement, I've done it too. But now we both know better.

That is probably only relevant for mechanical systems though. The software feature flag for regulatory approval is simple. Which, optimistically , might give the rest of us a vector into controlling the feature ourselves.

The PTR match is a signal, but it's not required . I send mail from several domains out of my mail server. The PTR record for that host actually doesn't match any of the forward hostnames.

That's commercial email. Of course you get flagged for spam. Use a service for that kind of thing. Personal/private/family email can be easily self-hosted. You just need to know a few things to get it set up properly.

The update notification has a close icon when you hover the popup window. I use it all the time. It'll ask me again later (a few days? a week?), but it won't make any changes immediately, nor will it schedule any changes.
