That used to be the argument for Windows over Linux. FreeBSD has always required far less tweaking or maintenance than Linux, though.

Linux has turned haphazardry into a strength. This is impressive. I prefer FreeBSD.

The truth is that FreeBSD doesn't want casual users, though. The Linux (Ubuntu, etc) install experience leads to a usable desktop. Heck, the installer disc boots to a usable desktop. Also no unsophisticated users even know the name o

iOS presents me with "Dial NPA-NXX-XXXX" and "Cancel" options in a bottom-raised dialog, when I tap a tel link. I don't recall doing anything special to make this happen, but I wouldn't put it past me.

I have no idea what your point is. AFAICT, you intentionally goaded this thread into a dissection of WASP-vs-white, which serves zero purpose except to give you a chance to espouse something which you still haven't done, but strikes

I have no plan. I didn't create the label. And it's not a robustly defined sociological group anyway. It's just a popular label that got applied to real and very visible thing. Musk was born in South Africa under apartheid. D

WASP was always a pejorative way of saying "established white European-ancestry American aristocracy". It never applied to poor white people. It is just a label for the most common and most established phenotype in early America,

You appear to be on some kind of crusade here. I don't understand it, or your goals or intentions. We can agree that racism is stupid and boring. But it's still real, and has had a great deal of influence. If you think I'm pr

That's as WASPy as WASPy gets. It's not important that the specimen is an active Protestant. The point is that their ancestry (with some decent adjacency to: white, anglo-saxon, protestant) landed them in a place of general privil

Your point is kind of boring though. If OP had asked "why do white people hold most of the wealth in the US", the answer would be the same: Because they arrived (first) with superior technology and made slaves or serfs (or corpses

I guess it depends on the original poster's intention. If your point is that people have colloquialized "WASP", and that I fell into your trap, then OK you got me. :)

FWIW: When I was in undergrad, the students who showed up only for exams and sat in the back of the room were not cheating, and still ended up with some of the best scores. They had opted out of the lectures, believing that they were ineffi

Typically, these sorts of things are located in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying ‘Beware of the Leopard'. So, it makes sense to always start there.

Beware of nginx 444 if your webserver is behind a load balancer. The LB will see the unresponded requests and think your webserver is failing. Ideal would be to respond at the webserver and let the LB drop the response.
