Like a couple of things that smart people have said - our rate of innovation has dropped off, and, all the smartest workers are trying to maximize advertising effectiveness (well that and finance). Computers - a blessing and a curse.

I'm a two-page guy myself but a recruiter recently told me that nowadays with job searching being done by recruiters who 'grep' your resume for keywords, that longer and more detailed is fine. And, hiring managers want to see more, if you h

MS knows that Moore's Law doesn't mean faster cores anymore, rather more of them. But, most problems are only so parallelizable, thus the need to get the utter maximum serial performance (and no less important, minimum power consumption) th

It's my experience that smarter hirers are readier to hire you on your talent, and less on your experience. I've always thought that this is because people are egocentric, and, because it's easy for /them/ to learn, they presume it's the sa

2 things: Google does censor youtube - via responding to user complaints. And I bet Google /could/ censor the rest if it wanted to. And doesn't it already, anyway, for China? But then if not, who would lose more, Google + Facebook or India?

To be fair, if the gates of acceptance of HBD (human biodiversity) were thrown open, people fear there would be a lot more social friction. And I think you're right about the worldview bit, too - people not being seen as quite equal would b

Why don't they give out the simulator? Less inducement to pay $16K I guess, but, certainly it'd boost mindshare, and give a wider audience a chance to shine, feeding back to Aldebaran.
