I used to think the FE ecosystem was vitriolic and full of potentially unnecessary change. I think there are some really good reasons for that which are described here https://erock.io/2021/03/27/my-love-lette

Agreed. Deploying apps at the edge is a shiny new toy that companies with good marketing teams are pushing as the next big thing. Most products or services don’t need it. We will eventually find a good niche for edge computing instead of it

I totally agree with the sentiment of this post. Bear blog inspired me to build https://lists.sh which has been a blast to build. The goal is to foster a smaller web.

It's a typing "bug" in code you don't control. In some cases that's enough to not use the library and sometimes it isn't. That's a value judgement based on the developers using the library.

Because typescript is optional typing and some libraries don't maintain their own typings, there's a non-zero chance that the typings of a third-party library are wrong. In this case the error is noise and not indicative of a run

I also had similar thoughts without the eloquence of this article. The one area I disagree with the author is: > Rule #1 is don’t make a subset. If the replacement for the web is just whatever features were in Firefox 10 years ago, it’s

The scale of the problem on FE is because if you want to work in the browser, you need to use JS. There's a diversity of engineers working on the FE and with them comes a diversity of ideas. People have different use cases in mind an

Now add 500 more features and 10 engineers and see if it scales. Hint: it doesn’t. Sure you can make it work, but as someone who regularly makes FE decisions for a team, I wouldn’t want to impose vanilla on them. What I will say is it’s tou

I spent a few hours tonight going through https://neovimcraft.com looking for new nvim plugins. Every once in awhile I find something that's pretty useful. For example: - https://github.com/folke/troub

Even on large web apps I almost never reach for the react or redux specific dev tools. Just the normal debugger is more than sufficient.
