Like most systems, it’s all about how it is setup. I’ve learned over 5-7 years how to organize FE (with redux) code so it is readable. Also inheriting a system can be quite the burden and I could see how it was be difficult to grok. I also

Agreed. For large apps with even a little bit of complexity, context doesn't seem like much of a solution. You either have a million contexts for every shared state slice to optimize re-renders or you have a single context that takes

I also have a remote dev machine and love it. When I do any heavy cpu work my laptop stays nice and cool since it only has a terminal and a browser open.

Peer review incentivizes the worst features of humanity: it affords peers in your field the ability to reject your paper because they want to take the idea for themselves and then publish it.

I don’t get why you’d want to try to emulate html. The syntax and closing tags are brutal on the eyes. I’d prefer a more lisp style syntax for representing html

I’d be careful about the hype train in a 1.0 milestone announcement post. There’s plenty weird and quirky about svelte + kit. Take it with a grain of salt.

Just learn react, you won’t regret it. I wouldn’t do anything else before you understand it well. Don’t worry about anything on the server. Just use: typescript, vite, and react.

I’m pretty burned out by devops and backend solutions. I think the number of cloud native services and tools is similar if not more exhausting than FE in terms of depth and complexity.

When I used prisma a few years ago I was not impressed and it couldn't do a lot of what I needed so I had to dump into raw sql queries anyway. It was easier for me to use knex and get the types mostly right.

They most certainly are not sitting on all that money, it was used to fund the project. It’s not defraud if he decides to pull the plug and stop development entirely, but then no one will be able to enjoy it. They could also change the nam

I disagree with the pessimism. Wealth disparity, while on the surface feels discouraging, economics is not zero-sum. There’s too much focus on wealth differences when we should instead focus more on quality of life outcomes. They’ve been be

> The former [svelte] is utterly untenable for an actual product-serving business - it is a pre-release, actively-developing product I agree with this point. I also think that in terms of svelte-kit, the use-cases are pretty specific.

The primary UX between servers is the "local feed." This is a feed dedicated to all posts within the server. You can't really access that feed from outside of a server. That's pretty much it. You can follow people on

I use all sorts of computers for personal and professional use. I don’t want to install discord on all those clients. The point is more about the possibilities which have been severely muted with chat apps like discord.
