The problem is, it wasn't intentional. They seem to have thought they were attacking a Ukrainian military plane. There wasn't any strategy in this.

It's funny; As I get better at any given language or system, I inevitably move away from frameworks into individual libraries more and more. I don't think it's to be effective as much as because it's fun to force yoursel

Microsoft was made significantly flatter today, so hearing there is indeed going to be layoffs isn't surprising, though I admittedly hoped they'd figure out how to do it without incurring so many layoffs.

The first iPhone did pretty dang well without 3G. 3G helped, but it by no means was a requirement, especially with wifi prevalent even in 2007.

The answer, as always, is yes and no. Something no one seems to understand, is that the smartphone revolution didn't happen because we suddenly had touchscreens and processors powerful enough to have a relatively decent OS. We'd h

I wonder if they had any way to reasonably detect these being used maliciously after they'd fixed it, since they fixed this as long ago as September 2013. It'd be a neat sort of non-honeypot.

Probably not at current. Most game developers, for one, develop for Windows. Even if you are developing for Linux, this would only really help if you were exclusively Linux.

Yes! But using Docker can help several problems: First time provisioning of a box can take up to 30 minutes even with a non-mature app. Mature apps with many moving parts can easily get near an hour- using Docker, you can bring that down to

The following comment isn't strictly on subject, but it speaks to the cultural mindset toward all of this that seems pervasive even among the fastidiously anti-corporate. The attitude of content creators today scares me a bit. I was in
