The best use I could find for my iPad 1 is to use it as a clock. It’s a real shame I can’t use it for anything else.

Hi Keenan. Do you have advice for how a programmer can get started with implementing repulsive curves if they’re not familiar with the mathematics in the paper and video?

I too was skeptical, but the author actually reversed the email addresses for half of the entries in the leak in 3 minutes. The second to last paragraph in the article says: “With my Nvidia RTX 3080 it only took 3 minutes and 17 seconds to

Easily. The 8th gen CPUs are a nice sweet spot. Powerful enough graphics and cpu, energy efficient enough, 4 cores, while not new enough to be expensive.

Is this the i7 (10th gen) Chromebox you had in mind? Is currently going for $876 on Amazon. I guess surplus is the reasonable way to get them. Where is a good place to look? EBay? ASUS Chromebox4 with Intel Core i7-10510U, 16GB RAM, M.2 PCI

I’m a fan of nnn for a terminal file manager, so I’m keen to try out broot. Does anyone have other recommendations I should try? https://github.com/jarun/nnn

Yes, your fears are justified. Not only will it change how others first interpret you, but it will also change your world view as you will only get to see things from a systems engineer perspective. Systems engineering can be a gateway into

Yes, it has been debunked. They got the causal arrow around the wrong way. It turns out that kids who are in stable situations with trustworthy adults around them, tend to trust adults more when they say “wait 5 minutes and I’ll give you mo

We don’t need 60fps gpu accelerated terminals. What we do need is terminals with low latency between pressing a key and seeing the result. I find the longer the lag, the harder I press the keys, and the more it hurts my hands. So lower late

After finding a mistake in a paper, having to fix it, and then publishing my code, I’ve found other people contact me for the fix rather than the author of the paper. I would recommend publishing the code rather than assuming your paper is

I have a first gen iPad. Due to lack of software updates or the option to run another OS, I am using it as a clock. It’s a real shame. I’d love to be able to use it for something else.

I really like the idea of teapot, and keep trying to use it. But I end up going back to sc-im each time as it seems to click better in my brain. Does anyone have suggestions for how to get teapot to click, or suggestions for other terminal

Arguably that’s the difference between tech and non-tech companies: the tech companies embrace such systems, the non-tech companies minimise the cost of the systems.

That’s the point made at the end of the article. The compiler check does exist, but because it isn’t defaulted to on, no body in 6 years use it. Zig has the checks on by default, so the first time someone used it, they found and fixed it fo

You’re not wrong. While writing K you sit in the repl and work out each piece as you go and make sure it gives the result you expect and then build up.

K made a lot more sense to me after I realised it is three things: a library of functions, operators, and a set of types. The only way to access the function library is through the operators/type overloading. Different versions of K (o

The data is stored in a custom binary file format. Parts of the format are zlib deflated. There is documentation for the format, but it is wrong and outdated. I had to reverse engineer the format from the C++ code.
