I'd go so far as to say that after a certain level of experience, everyone should implement a compiler/interpreter. Automation is awesome, but it's better not to treat them as "magic".

I experienced this recently. I had to look through the source of a site because their image gallery javascript was broken. I was already looking at a gallery of thumbnails... how hard can it be to make each thumbnail a link to the image in

Realistically most of your readers will come through links and the like, and thus not be willing to pay a subscription. If it were a site I frequent, I'd probably be willing to pay $3-4/month for a simple, clean, static html versi

I would argue it's fairly similar to using javascript to load documents. If you have a web-app, I'm a huge fan of javascript/client-side rendering. If you've got a blog, not so much.

I wouldn't move it into a config file unless you're also testing the code works correctly with different values. Otherwise it's just asking for trouble.

So turn the 3D off on a 3DS? I don't think the lower price point is worth it, especially if you like the clamshell design (I do).

In fairness, program files, templates, docs, settings, and examples on Windows are often in some mix of C:/Program Files (x86)/VendorName/FooProg C:/Users/Me/AppData/Local/FooProg C:/User

As far as I can tell, the original "cargo cults" were pretty much exactly a manifestation of that fallacy. Could you explain what else is involved that I may be missing? EDIT: On further reading, I think I have a better idea now,

They're both good ideas, but bear in mind that the keydown detection may trigger under other conditions (eg I use a plugin to let me edit text fields in external vim. People pasting quotes/urls could also be odd keystroke numbers)

Have you tried pentadactyl? wmii has vim keybindings too. Sure, it's not the same as emacs OS, but it does feel like at least vim-keys-everywhere.

In fairness, 5-star rating systems are often useless anyway. People either like something or they don't. Who goes "Wow, this is cool, but ... only a bit cool."? Whereas being able to say "This is funny." or "Th

In fairness, the form Thomas Jefferson said that [some well reasoned argument or opinion] Yeah, but Thomas Jefferson was a slave owner. [and thus we shouldn't consider his argument] is pretty clearly ad hominem.
