Also birthright citizenship is a result of the 14th amendment. Which is a fundamental protection against arbitrary interference by the government in the lives of its people. This is not something that should be lightly "fixed".

Its funny that Go keeps going on how simple it is. Which scheme is much more simple then go will ever be.

I suspect that fixing the bug would have cost more then G+ was making them. Which is a pity because the world needed a nonfacebook social media platform.

I am a full time developer in go. I feel the lack of good error handling every time I write a function call and then have to use the same if statement to check its result.

The error was just ignored. if doThing() had some side effect that doOtherThing() depended on then you will never know why doOtherThing() isn't working the way you expect it to be.

by qtplatypus 7y ago
It is not difficult to accidently not check them. Like: result, err := doThing() if err != nil { return nil, err } result1, err := doSecondThing(result) return result1, nil Will not trigger a compile time error.

I expect that once we get generics we are going to get a host of differently implemented variations of the error monad none of which is used by the standard library. Which I think is worse then try. In a broader sense I am deeply irritated

Its a pity that they listened to the members of the community that was opposed to try. I was a massive fan of try or anything else that would prevent me writing the same boilerplate code. I feel some in the go community have become convinc

How can you miss an error check? Either you have used try and therefor there has been a check for errors. Or you have not used try and therefor you had to assign to err and therefor you have to use a check for errors. Any assignment to err

All “try” does is allow you to write those three lines as five characters. In natural languages the more frequent used a word is the shorter that word tends to be. “Check for errors and return” is something that is frequently said in go, fo

Personally I find that go’s error handeling adds a lot of noise that hides what the code is doing. Basically you have to mentally filter out a whole lot of the “if err == nil” before you can work out that bit of code’s functionality. Also c
