I completely agree. I was trying to say it’s okay to be wrong if you are able to acknowledge it instead of doing mental gymnastics to justify it. I don’t know where Paul Graham stands in this regard.

Yeah it’s even embarrassing for Microsoft, having to lure people into using edge. That may be the raison d’être of these inline web search results. It’s a crappy feature anyway, I never use it. It doesn’t get in my way so it’s not a big dea

I don’t even know what people are referring to exactly when they say Windows is full of ads. Windows 11 is my main OS, it’s the basic Home edition. The only ads I see are when I mistype in the start menu, and get some web search results inc

It’s ok to be wrong. I’m having wrong insights all the time. You just have to acknowledge it and move along. As long as you don’t try to make it look like you were actually right given some amount of mental gymnastic.

Is there any far right political party that’s not supported by Russia ?

Most of my projects are like this. I’ve lost hope of convincing anyone of the usefulness of anything that’s not trendy. I’m most confortable with modern C++, win32, boost, and I love templates. Everything everybody loves to hate.

The talking points I'm mentioning is not this list of names, it's the good old "NATO agression/expansion", "Russia was threatened", "US forced Russia into war" bullshit. So let's see, how wa

Yeah, I know too well that rhetoric. That doesn't hold scrutiny unfortunately, and I think you know it, but it doesn't stop you from spreading it. You _sound_ wise, but you just assert things, like the "aggression by US Neoco

I’m all for pointing out bad actors. You want to bring Israel to the party, fine. But then, you should stay on topic. Did Assange publish any leaks on Israel? Yes? That’s fair. No? Then we’re allowed to wonder why. But clearly you don’t car

Notice how I didn’t say that the US can’t be evil. US certainly can be, but, why stop there? Why not mention other evil powers while you’re at it? Why focus on the US while Russia is going for textbook land grab à la Hitler? Invading a coun

Let me ask a question to downvoters. Actually, wouldn't it be stupid for Russia not to have folks monitoring popular social sites, like HN, subtly (or not that subtly) pushing their views? Western sites are open to the whole internet

It depends, if you can convince people that it's the other way around, with counter-facts, embarrassing leaks and loud speakers... I'm sure you know the rhetoric, in which the US is the actual aggressor, supported by some big name

Well, maximum transparency on why he never published anything significant on Russia would be great. To me it's a very bad smell when you pretend to fight for press freedom and democratic values, but never say anything bad about regimes

His role in Wikileaks wasn't to personally raid servers. He was receiving leaks that were delivered to him via his platform, and then he decided what was worth publishing. Either he never had been handed any significant leaks on Russia

Not sure if it's true, but I've heard than WNT is VMS + 1, so to speak, with each letter "incremented". I believe the team behind WNT had previously worked on VMS.
