Don't now if NVIDIA is keen to understand their hardware, but they are obviously very interested in users understanding their hardware. I originally started i86 assembler and stopped after the i860, which as far as I remember was the f

According to this article [1] it looks like there is no complex preparation needs to run the inference on a Jetson system. Should work with Mixtral too. [1] https://www.hackster.io/pjdecarlo/llama-2-llms-w-nvidia-jets..

Possible fears about compromising the host system are of course justified. But such fears are appropriate for all DMA-capable devices, for example. FPGAs are general purpose in a broader sense than CPUs or (GP)GPUs. And, no other general pu

Good point! For me the beginner's mistake is: on a CPU any 'if' will cost you a clock cycle (branch prediction not considered), on a GPU it costs you the sync. In best case the syncs will come back over many loops, more often

For sure another case for the "you doing it wrong" team at Nvidia. But the decision to add Julia/CUDA.jl here was not the best idea on a comparison with really interesting insights about Fortran vs. Julia. The CUDA part of th

I was referencing DX/VK/GL and C++. What I can see on the lowest compute level, ML libs often are using pure CUDA in C or even PTX and are used especially if the code is generated by let's say via Python.

You’re right. The hard part is to manage processing of your data as close to the metal as possible to optimize memory, data flow, and computation. Coming from FPGA (both Verilog and VHDL), to me CUDA offers the best way to handle all three

The best implementation in the article shows an improvement by factor 89. Which is surprisingly low if we assume the processor (Xeon Platinum 8481C) runs with 112 threads in parallel. The final 35k speedup is probably not in question as Moj

Without questioning the statement '70% as good as GPT3.5', but wouldn't that be quantifying a quality, and a Turing test? Also: maybe these missing 30% are the hard part.

The implementation will be really interesting: can a VM, container, or RDP be compliant ever with WEI? To proof - or give at least a solid certainty, a runtime is direct connected to a GUI, and function calls triggered by this GUI are comin

Julia's extensive use including relevant comments is noteworthy. In particular, the use of the mathematical notation of the variables facilitates the understanding of the formulas. At the same time it helps to learn Julia.
