"The only hard and fast requirements for consideration are a strong programming background (any language(s)) and some experience in AI and/or machine learning."

We only need 0.01% of the population to make changes, and not very fast, and they will eventually transform the world to the point it's hard for others to ignore.

If people knew they would live for millions of years, I'm confident some of them would get around to changing their policies a bit to allow for some gradual changes.

So, why the taboo on letting 14 year olds rent/buy porn DVDs? Are you saying it's an irrational taboo? Or a rational taboo? Is using 18 as the magic age for buying porn really the best we can do?

I think that's common. Most young kids wouldn't want anything to do with sex. In all of those cases, the prohibition on them having anything to do with sex is kinda useless/redundant.

Why is sex inappropriate for young people? I'm not trying to troll. I've genuinely never heard a good, logical answer. It seems to be a feeling people have, and I'm curious if there is a reason behind it. Of course there are dangers lik

Will they still do the keynotes somewhere else? I'd miss those. But any IRL audience isn't technically required to make them.

It is kinda crap, but I wouldn't be insulted. It's not really any worse than more restrained form letters.

What's despicable about offering a service people want to use? Isn't this just like offering poker games and other gambling, or selling beer (you pay for something that harms your health, and the only saving grace is that people enjoy it)?

if your clients think your rate is "fair", doesn't that suggest you're undercharging? i would guess when a client subjectively feels your rate is "a little on the high side" then it's probably fair. they prefer low rates.

I think it's common in sports. You aren't quite forced to join the union. It's just a condition of taking the job. You can find another job instead. Sucks, but I think it's legal.

93% or 96% ontime sounds bad . What is the rate for fedex? I bet it's better. EDIT: http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2007/04/09/ups-vs-fedex-battle... The actual rate of the FedEx station in Las Vegas, Nevada (LASA) is 99.86%.

Yeah, sure, but why is broadband one of those things? Is it broadband to rural areas that only the Government would do, because there is no profit in it? If so, I'm not convinced that's the best use of taxpayer money.

Government in general is really inefficient. Way less efficient than, say, Comcast, Microsoft, or Fedex. So unless there is some good reason it must be Government solving a problem, why not have someone (anyone) else do it? Having Governmen
