If the chip isn't defective, why did it work with a known good one? If it isn't complicated to make them, why does your chip not work? To answer these questions, we need to know: what do the chips do? Where did the replica cartrid

There was visible arcing every time the toaster popped up the toasts though. Now that you mention it, I'm kinda curious what exactly was causing it. (Too late of course.) It's not the first toaster I've seen that produced a f

Time to sue Intel for releasing chips that process our inputs as we request.

Actually toasters need to be able to switch off a huge current, which causes arcing. This arcing may slowly burn the PCB and desolder the metal contact mounted on the PCB. At least that's what happened with my last toaster after >5

I think you're interpreting "as you indicate with your use of Firefox." in some weird charitable way. Law doesn't work like that.

Ahh, but that would be mean because it would make ARM64 CPUs 16-bit too. Though actually if you put -1 and it sign-extends to 0xFFFF'FFFF'FFFF'FFFF then that's technically 64-bit? :p

Speaking of interesting bits, this machine isn't actually an 8-bit computer, the CPU is 16-bit. (The video controller is 8-bit though, i.e. the VRAM data bus is 8-bits. It's also the same video controller used in various other mac

Your plan was to use USB, but to me it looks like you're pretty much just using serial via USB. That's completely fine of course! One cheap way to tackle your problem is to use a version of printf with locking, which is likely ava

The Quectel BG95 is a similar modem chip. If you want to add low-bandwidth connectivity in a project you can just get a BG95 or this Simcom as a devkit and e.g. a 1NCE SIM card, hook up the UART pins to your microcontroller and you're

I think this depends on your budget and what exactly you want to do. Do you want to scan your house from outside? Sounds expensive, would probably have to be drone-mounted, and the drone would fly around for a while (depending on the shape

There is a chip out there that contains both an ARM and a RISC-V core, the RP2350. It's reasonable to assume that the ARM part and RISC-V part are manufactured in the same process. There are some benchmarks pitting the two against each

This won't compile with reasonable compiler flags. (-Wall and a reasonable set of -Werror settings). Now, assume that you didn't compile this with those flags; what actually happens is entirely obvious but platform-dependent. Assu
