If one opens Google News and visits sites at random, you'll find at least 1 in 5 has an XSS vulnerability in their search box. Its really incredible. Just type <plaintext> into the search box, and you'll be shocked how many sites br

It gets better brother. I've been there. Keep fighting. You're not alone. You've already done the hard part. You've redefined yourself as someone who works for himself. Taking a job to keep going doesn't change that - it reenforces it. Just

Where is it registered? If GoDaddy, try to buy it out of tdnam.com. You can probably get it for $20. Else, I'd make a direct offer to the owner once it expires. At that point the domain has entered the redemption period[1]. What that means

They clarified their responsible disclosure policy here in 2010: http://googleonlinesecurity.blogspot.com/2010/07/rebooting-r... (tl;dr: 60 days for the vendor to it fix it). Would like to know if they followed it in this case.

(Very limited experience but...) Processing has a loop that runs every frame, in which you redraw the whole scene each time. So for a Tetris game, on each frame you'd draw all the blocks in their correct position. You maintain the game stat

I'll tell you one right now - HIPAA compliant Wufoo. I've got a lot of medical clients who want to have patients filling out input forms before they arrive, but storing medical data is something I won't touch with a ten foot poll. We use an

It works like this: Every year you have to pay a percentage of your total payroll as a tax, called Unemployment Insurance. If someone is fired or laid off, its from this pool their unemployment checks are drawn. The percentage each company

Damn. Notifio was one of the more immediately awesome ideas I'd heard. Sad to see it wasn't able to become a thriving business. Good luck Chad. Excited to see what you make next. High hopes.

Lots of problems here. First, his apps are Live Wallpapers, and he only shows ads on the preferences screen. Second, his sample is only ~500 installs and 600 impressions! AdMob isn't killing it for me, but is a lot better than the OP porten

Good point. Its hard to believe how long it can take to get set up as a vendor in QuickBooks/with accounting, (i.e., "get you in the system"). But once its taken care of (after you've been paid once) payments become more timely.

Just to add a +1, we're also totally OK with paying half upfront and half on delivery. Milestones are fine too if that's what vendors prefer, but I think 50/50 is easiest. Once we've worked together, I'm happy to pay 100% upfront for anythi

Networking == sending business to people; Follow-up with the VP by sending him work, or an introduction to someone he'd be interested in meeting. If you get good at sending business to good vendors you'll become popular very quickly.

Why are you worrying about traction when you haven't even launched a product yet? The hardest part of getting traction is making something anyone cares about at all . Given that your first guess will be wrong, you need to launch the produc

Nit: [Engine Yard is] really easy if you have a public github repo, but anything other than that starts to get "more complicated" quickly. You can also hook it up to a private Unfuddle repo, and I would assume private github repos too.

That's a great question. I would expect MS to maintain the BlackBerry brand, which I think still has some clout in the enterprise. That and MS/RIM have a somewhat long-standing relationship too. As I understand it, BlackBerry is the only wa

Yeah as far as I'm concerned, the cross-site tracking thing is a straw man. They used evercookie-ish methods to track people who don't want to be tracked. That's unethical, full stop.

I saw a demo of a Netduino a .NET developers group in Raleigh, and was very impressed. It was extremely cool to see someone step through C# code in Visual Studio that was running on the board. IIRC, the SDK runs on the Express (free) versio
