Maybe 'register' wasn't abstract enough, he means something like (in psuedo-assembly): ldr r1,4 ;Load constant 4 into register 1 add r2,r2,r1 ;Add contents of r2 and r1, store in r2 ldr r1,5 ;Load constant 5 into register 1

Maybe they could do a humblemediabundle.com type of deal. (humblebundle.com sells indie game packages for whatever you want to pay).

I'm sure this topic is dead, but just so you know, kernel debugging for windows uses named pipes at least when VMware is involved. .NET added support for named pipes in release 3.5. Mac OS X seems to fully support pipes, too. I suspect

Swype is very cool when I have to use it on my wife's phone, probably with practice it isn't too bad, but I don't know if you could really do big text editing with it too well. It doesn't solve the cursor movement problems the author talks

Although the consensus seems to be contractions count as one word, some people still believe they should count as two. I suppose then the problem would be counting "can't" as a "can" and a "not". Bug-free seems a bit of a strong claim eithe

Not a straightforward scenario. Doubtful most other carriers were willing to make the same deal AT&T made at the time (no customization, etc.). People were waiting in line for iPhones to begin with, so they would have to have had diff

Right, knowing how it works it's probably easy enough, but the short time I looked at it, there were no instructions. My point was it seemed unlikely to attract buyers easily who are browsing all the tablets at the Best Buy like I was. Per

Browsing at the store, the playbook didn't seem as responsive or the UI very intuitive. Just getting back out of an app seemed like a chore. In fact, I'd say it seemed to be the hardest ui to navigate of any of the tablets I looked at. So

I was just looking at building a new computer, I was contemplating a dual-cpu setup for using vm's, hoping it would be easy to run copies of various OS's on one box and use all the different streaming technologies for tv output. Looks like

Seems like you are joking. My observation has been that people working more than 8 hours a day for more than a week only overproduce for a very short time. 16 hour work days general degenerate into spending most of the early day fixing bug

I don't think Isaacson could yell at Jobs to come back with four different answers to a question so Isaacson could choose the one he liked, and keep requesting new answers until he was satisfied. I think it's a little funny that people who

The 'internet' is an interconnected network of computers. A cloud is a bit of weather phenomena. I don't like trying to re-purpose the word cloud, because isn't all that descriptive. Do you have high-availability provided by distributed,

Sounds like the forced search from Mint would be annoying. The real problem I have with Unity is the lack of a Focus-Follows-Mouse setting. Possibly there is some hidden settings I could change, but that's a deal breaker. Even Windows7 ha

You might want to look into how it was like to work for neXt. There were more than a few layoffs during that phase of Jobs' life. Jobs had about a decade where he pretty much seemed like a failing prick until Disney funded Toy Story and s

JWZ also states "Java and Emacs are really bad examples of GC-oriented environments." in that same article. And later, in 2000, he states "Today, I program in C." http://www.jwz.org/doc/java.html JWZ is an entertaining read, but unless he

I haven't noticed cscope being all the slow, other than having to rebuild the database. I use all the C-Spacebar-<letter> commands, it's second nature to find all the callers of a function for me now.
