This project is wicked cool, and I almost missed that they built it using Rust. I like the language a lot, and I think something like this is a sign of it moving towards real maturity, where the utility of the programs starts outshining the

I'm in exactly the same boat. Paying for the VPN to use on exactly one device because everything else is Linux, and would happily put more money towards it if they offered a paid equivalent to GSuite that was privacy-respecting.

Are you considering any options to allow donations to choose certain pools? For example, I think I'd be really interested in donating towards maintaining a thorough breakdown of politicians' records on mass surveillance or their s

I second this wholeheartedly. I would be happy paying at least the $5/mo that they're charging for the VPN to have web-based access to privacy-respecting email service tied to a name I tend to trust like Mozilla (hopefully with a

My team also may be looking for something with similar requirements in the near future, do you have any recommendations for solutions that you're considering? I know a number of earth science researchers that have mentioned ideas that

I try to do my best to assume good faith, but sometimes comments like this make it really hard. In any case, here's two links. One's from Drexel University, the other is a meta-composition of resources by an organization connected

Thank you so much for posting this; I hadn't heard of this documentary before, and the name Aaron Swartz was just something that sounded vaguely familiar. Just watched it, and I'm shocked and saddened.

I don't generally consider myself a conspiracy theorist, but I agree with the previous comment. For-profit prisons not only make money by having more prisoners staying for longer, but in many cases have actually been required to mainta

I'm not a developer on it, but I've been following the development pretty closely for a while. IIRC, the lead developer Jeremy Soller states that even though the kernel code does require unsafe blocks, it's actually less comm

I could see this being an immensely useful tool in certain contexts. I know that having something like this, as opposed to submitting a print-out of my program results during my introductory programming course (as well as just being forced

That's certainly true, but it does look like in this case. I did the preliminary benchmarking on an 8-thread CPU (the actual HPC cluster has higher counts), and the total execution time on the processing was just under 8x, which I imag

I've done something very similar recently, for processing hundreds of GB of .csv files across thousands of records. I ended up writing a fast single-threaded Rust program for the file parsing, then fed it into a bash script running GNU

This is definitely fair--I don't consider myself a LabView expert. I'm proficient with object-oriented systems (Python, C++, Rust (if you consider Rust object-oriented)), with get/set for indices and network streams, but not

I'm a huge fan of this kind of practice, where the code for a paper is all located in a single public repository with build instructions, along with directions for how to cite it. Obviously, it's a little tough to do with some mor
